Minnesota K-12 schools have next Thursday and Friday off, with the original intent being for teachers to attend the teachers' union convention those days, hence the term MEA break. Wisconsin K12 schools have the following week off.

The U of M fall semester goes straight from Labor Day to Thanksgiving with no breaks. That's a long haul.

I'd like to see a Kroger come in here, to give Publix some competition. I know they have options on at least two nearby properties, so we'll see. The demand will be here.
Publix is way better than Kroger imo. Whole Foods & Fresh Market are kinda overrated & overpriced. People around me seem to rave about Trader Joe's- don't know never been. I pretty much just go to Publix.

I'm happy for y'all in Florida... People keep moving in, and pretty soon you'll have as many businesses and options as I've got in California!
Nah, we'll have more eventually as more and more people flee shithole California.

I question the use of the words so many

Data supports the number of breakthrough cases being around .5% of those vaccinated and of those only about .9% have required hospitalization and less then 1% have died

in short the vaccine is effective against the new strains at a small decrease in overall protection
There are so many breakthrough cases because the vaccine is a "leaky" vaccine. The vaccine does not stop the virus in its tracks and stop transmission & infection. Studies in Israel- a country which has an insanely high rate of vaccination (something like 90+% of all it's people are fully vaccinated) - have shown that the vaccines are 39% effective at stopping transmission & infection. Not even 40%. Less than flip a coin and get infected chance.

And people who have been vaccinated and get infected shed viral particles at same levels as those who are unvaccinated.

In short how effective is a vaccine if it doesn't actually stop transmission & infection?

Trader Joe’s is a place where you can get an usual snack foods and maybe good fresh meat. But it’s a little overpriced. I generally like them for snacks, and some people really like their premade salads.

The Fastest Trains in the World
#3 seems scary to me.  I don't want to go 300+ mph on something deliberately named POS.

Hispanic folk are pretty defensive of Columbus.

Seems like he would be the poster boy for for the woke White Left. Came to America uninvited from a Spanish speaking country, educated by Islamic Universities, and elevated above the White guy that actually discovered America in Erik the Red.

Their Columbus rage is actually pretty comical, when you think about it.
Are italians white or not? Just asking.

And Amerigo Vespucci- another Italian person- actually discovered America- of which the name America actually comes from.

Erik the Red & Columbus had no idea they were even in a new continent that was unknown to Europeans.

And I don't get the whole "Cancel Columbus" - newsflash it was like 500+ years ago. Different world. These same people don't think Aztecs or whatever native tribe you want to talk about wiped out entire other tribes of natives, took entire populations as slaves, practiced human sacrifices and cannibalism? Cause uh, they did.

It was uh....a different time period with different laws, cultures, social norms- different everything.

Everywhere except the coasts of Florida. Not a big Tampa fan, but the beaches up there are pretty damn nice (St. Pete and Clearwater).

Never been to Jax. Can't comment on that city.

They are not as White as Vikings obviously, so they should be quite a bit farther up the woke White Liberal's pecking order.

They are still European though, so maybe that's the rub. I dunno.

Jacksonville beaches are nice north and south of Jax, but not great where it's all built up.  The brown water seems to be a turn-off and it's chilly compared to the rest of FL.  But it's warmer than the Pacific, that's for damn sure.
The sea turtle nests are cool, if you're into that.

I have fond memories of living in Jax from '89-'94.  But every time I go back, more and more of my memories are paved over or replaced.
