And all of the new businesses that will come with them.
Was Florida hurting for businesses before? I'm happy it will get more.

(I know, I know, I'm sassin' a bit. If it makes you happy/proud that you live in a state that's growing, I'm happy you're happy. I've lived some interesting places in the midst of economic changes, so perhaps I'm just getting old with my outlook. Hopefully wizened too, but that might be ambitious)

I wouldn't say FL was hurting for business. I like having more choices, and given what I do for a living I'm able to easily follow the background moves developers and municipal leaders are contemplating.

Lots of big things are coming to our area.

I see the move, power playing and such. :)

The place I now live is in the late stages of its boom (I think). Stuff going up all over. More choices than I can shake a stick at. Leaves me balancing wanting to explore (which I've been slow to do) and wanting to hold onto funds for other things.

I'd like to see a Kroger come in here, to give Publix some competition. I know they have options on at least two nearby properties, so we'll see. The demand will be here.

That is a grocery option I have not had much experience with. A friend from Michigan considered them a go-to.

I have a Food Lion and a Harris Teeter near my apartment, and a Publix near my office. Publix is still where I go for meat and produce, while Food Lion is for mostly packaged goods and A few things they do well. Teeter is basically only good for things that are on special or when I run out of things that I won’t get it Food lion and I don’t want to drive as far.

I'm happy for y'all in Florida... People keep moving in, and pretty soon you'll have as many businesses and options as I've got in California!

Plenty of options here. Just would like another grocery chain to come in.

We don't do Wal-Mart. Aldi is pretty decent for things. Winn Dixie is OK.

California is too crowded.

Both of these cities are Venice. Guess which one is in Florida.

Its hard to understand the reluctance to get the vaccine.  So much tragedy that it seems everyone would personally know someone who's life has been taken or drastically altered for the worse.  It is a very scary disease.  Do I think people should be forced to get the vaccine unless required for their job for a valid reason?  No.
As I have already had Covid and recovered, I already have the antibodies that the vaccine proclaims to induce. Therefore, there is no need for me to get the vaccine. There are millions more like me that would NOT benefit from the vaccine.

Grocery near me (i.e. <5-10 minute drive):

  • Right around the corner I've got Smart & Final, which is a sort of discount/bulk grocery chain.
  • A mile from the house is a Persian market, and there's another one within that 5-10 min distance.
  • Within 5 minutes I think there are probably 3 Ralph's (local version of Kroger).
  • There's a highly rated Indian market.
  • El Toro Meats, my gourmet butcher shop.
  • There's at least 1 Pavilions (high end version of Vons, which is the local version of Safeway).
  • Multiple Mexican markets and/or carnicerias.
  • Target, which has a grocery.
  • Multiple Albertson's (the lowest version of Safeway).
  • Stater Bro's (not sure if they're a division of another grocer).
  • Multiple Sprouts (natural/organic foods).
  • Multiple Trader Joe's.
  • Grocery Outlet (another discount/bulk shop).
A little farther...

  • Within a ~10 mile radius I have at least 5 Costco's.
  • Multiple more Pavilions, Ralph's, Targets, Walmart.
  • Into Irvine gets some really complete Asian markets.
  • Multiple Whole Foods.

And there are probably specialty places I don't even know about or haven't listed.
