It is amazing how dependent many humans are on climate control, considering it is a rather modern invention.

If you turn it off altogether it takes a day or three to get used to it, and then you don't even notice.
grew up in a house without central air

the only place our schools had air conditioning was the cafeteria and the teachers lounge

Heading to very north of Minnesota next week for a week of Muskie/Walleye/Smallmouth fishing.

Looks like highs of 75 ish and lows of 50ish. A nice reprieve from the 95° and 90% humidity in Florida right now.

Then my annual northern Michigan trip for golf with my high school/football buddies the following week so more of the same.

Have not taken much vacation time this year so it will be nice to get away and off the grid a little bit.

PS:   I called ahead to the fishing lodge to ensure they’re going to have the golfers and buckeyes on Thursday evening.  I think that’s going to be a humdinger.   Unfortunately I will be missing the big one against Oregon the following week because I will be out on the golf course so I will have to rely on text updates from my better half.

Love those loons!

this trip would actually be deep into Canada if it was not for the Covid restrictions of getting into an out of Canada.

Eh, no real need for AC in Madison (or West Lafayette). A couple weeks at the beginning of the fall semester might be a little toasty, but the rest of the school year you'd have more need for heat than AC.

A lot of wealthy Ohioans had summer cottages up on Put In Bay, and there wasn't any AC anywhere on the entire island. They were all used to it even though it was sweltering and humid as Hell. They'd make fun of their guests when we'd come up for a weekend and be just dying of the heat the entire time.

Vermont was the same way, only there it was only hot in July. So they'd just sweat it out for a month, and the that would be the end of it.

We had A/C in our schools and our home, while I was growing up.

But I had no A/C in my on-campus dorm my freshman year at UT.  It was warm.  Downright hot even, in September and May.  But livable.

It might be possible that the process of the PoA all began with climate control.

I find AC useful down here.  Ha.  We were out and about today and it was hot. We had lunch at the botanical garden on their patio, there was a slight breeze and shade.

I was about 8 when I asked my mom how a refrigerator worked.  I should have asked about a Thermos bottle.
