Thanks!  We've enjoyed it.

It's a fantastic house for kids.  Once they move out, we'll almost certainly downsize.

I never thought I'd live in a cookie cutter McMansion in Suburbia, but I love our neighborhood, I love our neighbors, I love our schools, and I love the entire community.  It's much more close-knit than our old neighborhood in Austin proper, or any of our friends' neighborhoods who still live in Austin as well.  It reminds me of the way I grew up in the 70s/80s, with groups of kids roaming freely sunup to sundown, big block parties with ice cream socials and everything.  Halloween is a HUGE deal and everyone decorates big-time.  It's been a ton of fun.

Sounds exactly like the neighborhoods I grew up in and the ones I raised my kids in, in Ohio and Michigan. Early ones were quite poor too.

Nice to see plenty of that still out there ( and it is NOT in the coastal Florida communities regardless of how “ you were advised “)

I have always thought fondly of those- as places, but more recently thought maybe they were “ times.”  I will be happy to rethink that.

Whenever someone tries to call me racist I always say the same thing- can’t be racist if you hate everyone the same.

I don’t hate one race. I hate the entire human race. I’m rooting for the asteroid.

I don't understand the idea of hating people based on their race, nationality, religion, orientation, whatever... It's lazy.

If you spend a little time with someone, you'll soon learn many reasons to hate them on a purely individual basis.

So a couple weeks ago, my mom fell and broke her hip.

She went in and had surgery (luckily just a plate and screws rather than a hip replacement), recuperated for a couple days in the hospital, and then moved to a SNF for rehab and the rest of the recovery.

In two weeks in the SNF, she gained 40# of fluid weight, was extremely unhappy with her care, and she and my dad decided to go back to the hospital. That was Sunday.

As of yesterday I learned that she was being transferred to the ICU because the fluid wasn't properly draining and was affecting her heart, and she needs a catheter in her heart, carotid artery, and her neck in order to get the fluid drained. Without this treatment her condition would likely have been fatal within 48 hours...

Supposedly she's doing a little better this morning, and they just put the catheters in.

My wife and I are planning to fly out to Denver next week to support her in her recovery, and hoping that I won't have to fly out there within the next 24-48 because things turned south...

So... Good karma would be appreciated.
Sending karma and vibes.

They won't let me give blood anymore. The burnt orange color scares the hell out of the doctors.

My reaction to that was more sadness.

My take is that he couldn't remember his name. ;)
Well it turns out you were correct. Yesterday in an online meeting he referred to the governor of Michigan as Jennifer. 😂😂
