Colorado highway 550 from Durango to Silverton is/was called the million dollar highway because of the cost to build per mile.  It's a nice drive to make the loup from Durango to Silverton (mining town), Ouray, Ridgeway, Telluride, stop to see bridal veil falls, and back to Durango.  You could stop in Cortez.

did this trip on a motorcycle back in 1997 with a tent overnight at the base of the falls. 

Bridal Veil Falls is a 365-foot waterfall at the end of the box canyon overlooking Telluride, Colorado. Hiking and off-road trails pass by the falls and it has a hydroelectric power plant at its top. In winter the frozen shape of the falls forms an imposing challenge to intrepid ice climbers.

I just saw a golf course worker driving around and releasing tons of dragon flies. Now I know where they come from. I guess they drop 2 times per week. Great way to get rid of the flying bite machines around here.

Mosquitoes don't really bother me anymore. It's the no-see-ums that destroy me, although I'm getting some resistance. Maybe have to try and get a no-see-um vaccine.

I use this stuff. It's the only thing I've found that works. A Thermacell helps a lot too.

I choose to not have a screen on the pool because I like the tropical look but there’s definitely a price to pay

Nice looking pool. I'm going to do something like that when we have ours re-done - probably next year. 

Still bleeding money getting this place how we want it. Garage paint/flooring is being done now. Generac will come in about a month.

Thinking about the roof too, a new cage, new pool... and then it's a brand new house, minus foundation, slab and external walls.

I chose to do the same, and I agree.  We have a canal and lake that run behind the back of our property, so that doesn't help.  I have to deal with the cottonmouths sometimes as well.

Yeah, the one thing that I absolutely LOVE about SoCal is that we don't get mosquitoes at all. I can sometimes go an entire summer without a single bite.

Not going to send y'all a picture of my dirt patch backyard though. If I owned this house there'd be SO many changes that I'd make back there, but since I don't...

All of that was done before we bought our house.  If I'd had to plan it and pay for it directly myself, there's no way it would ever have been done. :)

This is our pool, in its native state (unoccupied) as I'm awaiting the elevator.  It's not fancy like utee's, but it's adequate for me.  It's above the entrance drive.  I'm headed down soon to the gym and then the pool.   Folks in condos think they want a gym, a pool, a lounge, a deck, and then rarely do they get used.

I love the foliage on that HB.  I opted to do my own landscaping to save money.  One of the downsides with that is it is not mature and filled in yet.
