I had a corn dog mostly because the wife had never had one.  It was $8.53, in part because I accidentally double tipped.

$6 plus tax, which is nearly 9%, plus tip.  Frozen corn dogs are as good.

Sad to hear you have such crappy corn dogs over there.

Fletcher's corny dogs, at the State Fair of Texas, are delicious and amazing.  You should try one sometime.  Way way better than frozen.

Why on Earth would anybody ever settle for a corn dog, when there is fair food available that actually tastes good?

Corny dogs are delicious, but they are just the appetizer.

Some of the more recent entries at the Texas State Fair are listed here:

As I said, the wife had never had one, I got it so she could have a bite.  I have never had an amazing corn dog, they pretty much have been all the same.

I didn't really see anything superior at the festival, same old stuff, one spot had crab cakes which may have been OK.  There were some food trucks with long lines.

The restaurants are generally a lot better and cheaper and a short walk away.  We came home and I finished up the dinner from last night, Creol food.

I almost never buy corn dogs anywhere, so my experience is limited.  There was a mall in Cincy that had a spot with corn dogs I would get at times back when we went to malls for stuff.  The kids liked them.  Were they special and great?  Nope.

There is a small place near us that sells Nathan's hotdogs, they ask a lot for them.  Never tried them from there, hotdogs are easy to fix at home.

I only ever eat them at the State Fair, where it's coming straight out of the fryer and into my hand.  I wouldn't ever bother trying to get them at a restaurant or mall kiosk.

Yeah they take the food pretty seriously at the Texas State Fair.  I've also heard that the Minnesota State Fair is something to behold, I'd like to try it out someday.

Here are the semifinalists for this year, no pics yet, just decriptions:

They had a state fair in Ohio, never went, and a county fair, never went, I do not know of such a thing down here.
