We have two bins here for glass, and every time I drop mine off there, about all I see are liquor bottles and wine.

This building is full of drunks apparently.

I don't like any politicians of any stripe.
Do you mean likes stripes across the back as in flogging? Sounds reasonable to me

I drink too much myself but have developed a tolerance, for better or worse.  I blame Costco.

They used to carry a 48 pak of some uber lite/cheap beer. Haven't seen it in 3 yrs but it strung me along fine in between cases of craft/Yuengling

I wonder if home-distilled spirits escaped the data.  West Virginia looks suspiciously low.

Have to disagree.  And believe me- I wish people weren’t flooding in here

Came in in January of 16. Was recruited to a job I really liked.  I live in an area where people “winter” so it was seasonal.  Bustling December- April, deserted the rest of the year.

it’s not like that now.  Bustling would be a 5 level downgrade. People are moving here at a pace none of the locals can believe.  And they are starting businesses- in many cases moving their business.  I talk to these people- I have to for my job.  I also talk to them casually like when I dine out or golf, etc.

it goes way beyond no personal income tax.  The business climate is welcoming, including taxes, the housing and new construction market is robust, and other industries are ripping it.

But people are leaving the big cities in fear of crime, higher taxes, anti law enforcement craziness- all the things you see on video.

Yes- Florida has been a destination for a long time- but the intense pace going on is other worldly and that started shortly after the pandemic. There are tangible reasons people are leaving one place and going to others at a record pace.

As I was typing all of that I learned from the local news that Amazon announced it’s opening its newest fulfillment center about 15 minutes up the street from me creating 500 new jobs.  That’s the third major fulfillment center to be added to this market in the last few months and that’s just this market.

They are not doing that because of no personal income tax or weather, they are going where the business climate is the best and where the economy demands their services.
That’s a fair outlook. I disagree in spots, but am on a trip and don’t have the time to drill down.

I’ll say this, I’m young for a cynic and skeptic, but to me most pols who take credit for prosperity are just riding the good luck train. And if Florida wants to take some CA tech money and make it a place I could afford to live, I’ll take it.

I should point out that although I live in a dying shithole, Amazon in the last 1-2 years put in a major fulfillment center within barely over a mile from my house.

I haven't researched the number of jobs, but there are Amazon delivery trucks like crazy all over the roads near me, and I'm sure that the employment aspects are significant.

Same for where I grew up. Just awful. Such a shithole, a friend dropped $150k over asking to get a good but smallish house.
