I'm definitely getting that flag and sending one to longhorn and the other to HB.  :57:
The only flag I have ever flown or owned.  You know Fro- the one that repulses you.  Like garlic to a vampire.  😂

I see all manner of birds of prey nowadays I never saw when I was a kid.  Theyre seemingly everywhere.  Earlier this morning while sticking down the magic beans of consciousness (coffee)  I watched an osprey being chased by two brave Blue Jay's... I see hawks all the time of several varieties, owls, and even a falcon... its a huge thing the size of a red tailed hawk but it's black and white. I only know it's a falcon because someone told me- I would have guessed it's a marked cruiser in the hawk genre.
Yesterday I was driving into town and saw a hawk mixing it up with a bald eagle while they were both in flight. At one point the hawk dove towards the eagle and just as it got close, the eagle flipped upside down, and tried to grab the hawk with its talons but missed. Then the eagle flipped back over and continued flying while the hawk retreated in a different direction. It all happened in about 20 secs, but it was pretty cool to watch.

We had a hawk family every year behind our house in Cincy, and we've had one here every year as well over in the park.  A hawk would post up in a dead tree that I could see and sit for long periods.  They took that tree down however, it was probably 100 years old and 80-90 feet up.  I took this with my phone through my telescope.

The botanical garden has this rather interesting display of "streamers":

This place is a jewel IMHO, we love going on weekdays, and in winter when it's nice weather.  Weekends the place is too crowded, no one goes there any more.

It is nice, the streamers are temporary, a change to atttract visitors, they do this often, have a Festival of Lights in December that is well attended.

The woods once were riding trails circa 1900 so the trees date from that era and were preserved by the Piedmont Driving Club (Driving means driving a surrey or carriage).  That part of the gardens is very relaxing if it's not too crowded.

They have a large pedestrian bridge elevated passing through the trees.  This is one of the popular features called mosaiculture.

Any spot of green in a city is very welcome, and perhaps the primary reason we moved here.  The park used to include a 9 hole course.  They took it out years back or so.  It's nicer now I think.  When I lived here 1970ish, the place was full of druggies and hippies and homeless folks, it wasn't safe.

n 1979, the golf course was closed, freeing up 70 acres of green space on what is now Oak Hill and the Meadow.

I'm usually against closing golf courses, but in this case it seems to have been a good move

Golf is the sport druggies, hippies and homeless.  We need to take back our courses!

I think that area gets much more use now by many more people.

A lot of picnicking, jogging, walking, etc.
