lesson #851 (at least) in crash course of wood craft novice: do a quick finish of some cutoffs to determine the color/contrast.... grrrr..

this bad larry is 24"long, 16"wide, and 2.5" thick standing 1" off the counter for total of 3.5" height... why? it's better for taller guys, that's why... it's large enough to be a preparation station and eliminates or at least mitigates leaning over the counter while you work, and makes it easier on your back.

here is the deal:  I inlayed the predominately teak end grain chopping block with black walnut for the lighthouse, and sapele for the banner... i wasn't prepared for how dark that blond teak would come to be after soaking up some beeswax laden board oil... you could hardly see the banner... so... I painstakingly pulled those inlays out and they're all maple now- and are easily seen.

duh... i make public mockery of myself here to make me think twice next time

WOW!

That maple looks fantastic.  Can't even imagine how much work it was to pull those inlays and replace them.  You, sir, are an artist!

Order some yourself as gifts if you don't need, and he also makes presentation quality items as well as chopping blocks.

I took this last night with the phone through a window.  Early this morning I awoke with bright light outside, two cranes with lights really bright out there.  They are filming a movie "The Valet" about three blocks from us.  The lights were almost blinding at this distance.

There is a nice apartment building over there, I guess they are using that as a prop.

public mockery is useful for humility

Lord, it's hard to be humble

I was drifting through final AP rankings and reflecting on how often the Dawgs ended not ranked 1960-2000.  They have a good year and then squat, and aside from a nice four year run, it was up and down with a lot of down.  So, now they end up usually in the top ten and fans (like me) keep wanting more.

I guess that is one reason Richt was fired, just not enough for the fans.  AP finishes the last four years were 2, 7, 4, 7, which is their best run ever aside from 1980-4.

I mean, at some point soon, I’m wondering if 2,7,4,7 is enough.

Richt had that run of 3,7,7,23,2, but the consistency waned and he got stale. And interestingly, you can get stale almost anywhere, if you’re quite good or just middling.

Indeed.  BTW: one of the best trim carpenters I've ever seen, besides the guys who did my house ;)

Yikes.  Rookie RVers can get into serious trouble.  He's lucky he didn't kill multiple people, much less do damage to his quarter-million dollars of truck and trailer.

His problem wasn't the GVWR or even the overloaded tongue weight, his problem was not using a proper weight distribution hitch with anti-sway control.  And also, not knowing to tap the brake controller for the trailer to reduce sway, while keeping your foot OFF the truck's brake.
