Wisconsin isn't trying to hide anything...

Not one outlier County.  I would have bet on Vernon or Monroe County as closest to less the 20% due to certain religious communities being concentrated near Tomah and west.  This is otherwise not at all surprising.

Yeah, I had it come up once in some sort of trivia where the question was "What state has the highest per capita alcohol consumption?"

Around a bunch of Californians, without ANY hesitation, I said "Wisconsin."

And I'm not sure it's particularly close.

I would have guessed Alaska

Vintage Map of Atlanta, Georgia from 1871 - KNOWOL

Pretty neat, to me.  The population in 1870 was double that of 1860 despite that Sherman visit.   One can see why downtown streets are at a 45° angle to the rest of them around the area.  Where we live is out in the boonies.  A lot of street names have changed.  Peach Tree Street was two words back then.

The city recovered rather quickly from the war.

After building boost with pedal overlap, the Honda Accord Sport 2.0T hits 60 mph in 5.5 seconds, making it just one-tenth of a second slower than the Civic Type R we had in our long-term test fleet. Its quarter-mile result of 14.1 seconds at 100.4 mph is only two tenths behind the Civic Type R.

Not many "muscle cars" of yore are faster, and this one gets 32 mpg highway (est).

Pretty amazing. Also amazing is how much HP and torque these engineers can coax out of these small power plants.

Absolutely.

Hard to get the torque numbers without forced induction though. You can hit high HP with variable valve timing and a high redline, but unless you have the low-end torque you need to be constantly in "drive it like you stole it" mode to get performance. If you have to drive something at 9/10ths to get the performance, it's not "streetable" performance.

That Civic Type R would likely be significantly faster than the Accord 2.0T on a road course, not only due to being smaller and handling better but that the torque penalty of accelerating from zero mph without boost would be gone. It would stay constantly in the powerband.

For low end torque you typically either need displacement or boost.

Tell me about it. At 6'5" I feel cramped in the driver's seat of my wife's RX350. We initially looked at the NX200 as well because we weren't sure she needed the size of the RX, and I couldn't comfortably sit in the passenger seat.

But hey, what do I need to worry about 0-60 times for anyway? I'm not jamming the go pedal all the way to the floor ever anyway.

I jam the pedal all the way to the floor occasionally, just because....

I enjoy the sound, like the smell of burnt gas and rubber, and I sometimes feel the need for speed
