I tried to insert more conflict, I'm not good at it, I like easy going better.

If any of you ever want to "publish" a paperback, Amazon makes it easy to do, it might be just an autobiography you write for friends and family.

I've made $31 so far in royalties.

The Gulf Coast, from Sarasota to Marco, is very nice, and NOT boring. No, we don't have much of what you see below. South Beach can keep that shit, and the gang banging that comes with it.

The population explosion in Florida over the last 50-75 years just astounds me.

My Grandparents started wintering in Sarasota in the late 60's, early 70's. Population of Sarasota City and County:
 • 1950: 19k, 29k
 • 1960: 34k, 77k
 • 1970: 40k, 120k
 • 1980: 49k, 203k
 • 1990: 51k, 278k
 • 2000: 53k, 326k
 • 2010: 52k, 379k
 • 2019: 58k, 434k

Forget @Cincydawg 's stock advice, just get a DeLorean and go back and buy cheap farmland in outlying Sarasota County in 1950.

For comparison, my County in Ohio is a "Ring" County bordering Cuyahoga County (Cleveland). Thus, it has grown relatively rapidly as it has been absorbing refugees from Cleveland's crime and urban blight. Medina City and County population:
 • 1950: 5k, 40k
 • 1960: 8k, 65k
 • 1970: 11k, 83k
 • 1980: 15k, 113k
 • 1990: 19k, 122k
 • 2000: 25k, 151k
 • 2010: 27k, 172k
 • 2019: 26k, 180k

My relatively fast growing County had nearly 1/2 again the population of Sarasota County 70 years ago and today has well below half the population of Sarasota County.

Pinellas County (St. Pete) probably has the most unique population history of anywhere.
1940   91,852     47.8%
1950   159,249   73.4%
1960   374,665   135.3%.....yes, it doubled + a third
1970   522,329   39.4%
1980   728,531   39.5%
1990   851,659    16.9%
2000   921,482    8.2%
2010   916,482    -0.5%
2020   978,872    9.4%

If you're unfamiliar, "What happened?" you might ask.
It's full.  There's nowhere for it to grow.  There's a bay and an ocean and a border.  I'm guessing the recent 9% growth is strictly vertical, in taller buildings.  There's literally no more landmass to grown into.

Watch Quarter-Mile Run That Got World's Fastest Corvette C8 Booted (motor1.com)

The Corvette, aptly named Phoenix after going through a significant rebuild and strengthening, is capable of handling up to 1,200 horsepower (894 kilowatts). It laid down a record-setting 9.41-second quarter-mile run at 144.94 miles per hour (233.5 kilometers per hour) earlier this year. The car's latest outing didn't break those numbers, but it did break the track's rules. The car, which is street legal, posted a sub-10-second quarter-mile time, and that was a no-no.

Back in the day, if you had a "fast car" and wanted a good quarter mile time, it was critical to launch appropriately, just burying the throttle would get you smoke but little acceleration, especially with a clutch.  Now its "easy", you bury the throttle and the brakes at the same time and then just release the brakes.

Some computer does the work.  You get minimal wheel spin, just at the edge of traction.

Ohio having a lottery for people who get vaccinated. Kind of weird, but fun.

Images: Tower built atop old downtown parking garage eyes summer debut | Urbanize Atlanta

Studios with just over 600 square feet begin at $1,560 monthly. On the flipside, the largest two-bedroom penthouses (1,315 square feet) are commanding rents of $5,500 that could seem astronomical by downtown standards.

Ouch, downtown here is not in my view a great place to live.  I'd pass, you can do better in midtown.

Everyone involved is lucky that the bridge isn't in the water. Recall a much smaller failure than this one sent the 35W bridge into the Mississippi River back in 2007.

Anyone know how a sizeable piece of steel can crack like that?  Vibration over time?
