There's so much ground to cover across cable sports channels that turning radio shows into TV shows works great as live filler that can be sold to advertisers. Back when Mike & Mike began TV simulcasting as far back as 2005 on ESPN2 (on the heels of Stern and Imus simulcasting), ESPN's goal was to load up on advertisers like Subway that could be charged far more for TV time than on radio. Because higher dollars came into play, TV simulcasting noticeably gave radio shows a much more corporate, filtered tone overnight. Today's simulcasters hammer away at the same 10 - 12 tired topics year round whereas before, when they were radio-only everybody was more entertainingly all over the place and often outside the bounds of sports.

I want to do a 'between 2 ferns' with college football people......act like Chris Farley interviewing Paul McCartney.

I had a buddy in Columbus that put everything down the disposal. I advised him that he out to just throw it in the trash instead, and he scoffed. A week later his sink was backed up with sludge, and he had to get it snaked.

I also had a roommate once that refused to shave over a trash can instead of a sink, so it was always getting clogged. Generally these things are easily avoidable by minimizing the crap that you put down the drain.

For the longest time, I had no idea grease down tthe disposal was a no-no.  But now I know better.  And knowing is half the battle!

you can put grease down the disposal if done properly

which is running lots of hot water and turning on the disposal for 30 sec and then running lots more of hot water

if been doing it thats way for years and never had a problem

This is word for word what my buddy said the week before his sink got clogged.

I know it's not high.  Who said it was?  I just mentioned it as the least police could do.  Stop acting like EVERY interaction is life-and-death because it isn't.
True story.

I was up in Chicago area when I got pulled over for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. (suburb)

She asked if I knew why I was being pulled over, and I said "April Fools?" It was April 1.

I was trying to find my insurance card on my phone, when it dawned on me that it was in my backpack. I get out of the car and her partner got out with his weapon drawn, yelling at me to put my hands up. He checked me over and told me to never got out of the car. I'm thinking if I had reached in my pocket to pull out a wallet I would have been shot.

Cops are really on edge now. Not sure why anyone would want to be one.

well let me amend my post a little

Im not talking about a coffee can full of bacon grease

Im talking about throwing out a left over where the grease has congealed on the top
maybe a cup of grease at most

My similar pull-over story is two police cars firing up their lights behind me a few years ago.

Police: "Do you know why I pulled you over?"
Me: "I never answer this question right."
Police: "Do you have any weapons or drugs?"
Me: ...shakes bottle of Excedrin PM Pills
Police: "I mean controlled narcotics?"
Me: ...turns up club music...I took a Pill in Ibiza

You can run Dawn down the drain with grease and hot water, copious hot water, it tends to cool down in the pipes of course.  The Dawn will emulsify or dissolve the grease, largely.

It's a bit iffy of course.

Can we stop with the Dawn crap-it's one of many and WAY over priced.Plenty of better degreasers and easier on the wallet

They've been for a long time. It just wasn't all out there.

But folks will always want to take that kind of job for all sorts of reasons (no one likes politicians, and people still want to do that). Too many will fall into the traps of enjoying wielding state violence and not being held accountable things, but hopefully enough with good moral fiber can change the culture. Unfortunately seems like that'll have to come from within.

the ugly has infiltrated into an otherwise noble trade.  to further that, people hire in their own image... and to @847badgerfan 's point, those seeking to be police in the environments we're told by the media exists, they're likely not the type seeking those positions for the service of the community.

most cops are good people but who are fearful for the same freakin' reasons people are afraid of them- the freakin' media, and those who are operating far above their station.  they incite both sides, and then jetset to their comfortable and secure lairs where they pop champagne and laugh over their exploits.  to what ends? notoriety? a few dollars? what are the editors and the producers doing? why and to what ends?

i see both sides of this.  i know a lot of cops seeking incident as a notch on their belts... and i see people who beg for police interdiction and then cry victim when they get it... and i see the media exploiting these, what i would consider exceedingly rare, encounters as the norm.

the media is to blame.  it's to blame for a lot of the crap afoul right now.
