And yet... California is still growing population...

Just not as fast as other states to the extent that they aren't keeping up.

Good economics, I think. The country should balance out, to a degree. People in expensive places should go to cheaper ones based on natural movements, until things balance out a bit. 

Which means places where things are nice and cheap will perpetually be bum rushed by money and then get pricy.
