Here in AZ, a little CAN of real crab meat is $18.
Costco, a 1# can of real crab meat is $20. Admittedly, that's not the cheapest thing in the world, but when you're feeding two people it's not that much. That was two pretty hefty crab cakes per person. Crab, bread crumbs, a little seasoning, arugula, parmesan, and dressing, etc, and that entire meal for two (not counting the wine) was under $30.

At a restaurant, a crab cake appetizer will often cost $15-20 by itself, and contain far less than 1/2# of crab meat.

And like I said, it's an incredibly easy meal to make. I don't know how much cooking you do, but even if you almost never cook, you can put this together.

Invite a date over for dinner, and you're gonna be in good shape, my friend. Impressive, "fancy", and yet not overly expensive in the grand scheme of things and really easy to prepare.

Outback is not recommended by me for anything.
I'll take the Bloomin' Onion and their bread, along with a beer, any day.

If I served their level of steak to a guest in my own home, I'd have to commit ritual suicide in shame.

I like their grilled shrimp on the barbie appetizer as well.  The shrimp are nothing special, but the buttery garlicky shrimpy toast underneath, is delicious.

I've made their bloomin' onion and the sauce from scratch.
A good friend was pregnant and had a craving, but didn't live anywhere near an Outback.  So I made it my mission.
Outback seems to have a little doo-hicky that cuts the onion that way, but all you have to do is cut like 90% through it like 16 ways.  It was difficult, but doable......made 2 in case the first one sucked.  Both were good, though!
Craving satisfied.
Good friend deed done..
.
And my point on the crab was that it was in a can.  I grew up literally getting seafood in off the boat at Miss Becky's seafood in Jacksonville.  Sponsored my Little League team one year.  Most of what we bought was still alive when we pulled into our driveway.

You can use one of those apple slicers to do the bloomin onion.  I saw it on a Tik Tok video.

steaks for this outback are boxed only a few miles away

they are not prime, but they are almost always very good

I like their broccoli with the melted cheese

They are offering a "special" beef short rib for a limited time.  It was very good as well.

I know the bartender pretty well.  I get great drinks.

I find myself just about never eating steak at restaurants. If I'm paying that much, it'd better be DAMN good. And if it's that good, it's mostly just special occasion level.

I'll make an exception for Harris Ranch on I-5, one because they got all them cows and two because that drive is awful and a steak breaks it up.

They prolly let him rest his head under the Keg Spigot so they don't have to wash a glass

many times in the summer I enjoy a refreshing bombay gin & tonic

I prefer mine with extra bombay and extra lime

when I'm having a johnny walker black on the rocks after dinner, I prefer a large pour

Most of us can grill a pretty good steak.  I'm with those who rarely order steak out.  I try and order what I can't fix as well at home.

I've gotten to where I can fix most things at home.  We do burritos pretty often of some sort or another, often with leftovers.

The folks who lived here before us left a Weber electric grill.  I turned my nose up at it, but it turns out it generates pretty good radiant heat, better than has I think.  We can't have gas or charcoal on the deck.

Charcoal gets extremely hot with enough air.  But electric is really not bad at all.  They also left a 55" 4K TV that I moved upstairs for the wife.
