Just curious, @betarhoalphadelta is that study peer reviewed?  I'm not sure how to even determine that within the formatting of the printing.

I'm curious because I know someone that has repeatedly cited a ScientificAmerican article that came to the conclusion that population density was not a major contributing factor.  I'd like to offer a counter viewpoint.

Edit: D'oh!  Says so right in the first sentence, which I didn't read because I skipped down to your highlighted bits
94... It doesn't actually say that density is the controlling factor, at least at the county level. A much bigger factor is total metropolitan population, especially in highly connected metros.

Which of course would indicate that the Chicagoland metro area (which, tbh could include portions of NW Indiana when you count all 9.5M people) as a whole would likely to be more impacted than... Well... Anywhere in Wisconsin or Iowa because they don't have large metropolitan areas.

Yeah, the original claim was that population and density were non-factors, and the context was, what happened in New York.

That didn't ring true to me, so I've been looking for any actual evidence in favor, or opposed to, that claim.

It's just relative. Hospitalizations per 100K.

Wisconsin and Iowa have been open. Illinois has been on lockdown.

Illinois fails.
I mean, yes, that’s the point of the low context graph. But I don’t know how big that jump actually is. Nor do I know what that gap between Illinois and the other states actually is.

If it’s just relative, by my eyeball, the COVID hospitalization rate went up four or five fold in three states in like three months. Maybe I just completely missed that?

It's our legal 3 year anniversary today, so we did crab cakes with an arugula salad, and a dry Riesling.

A good crab cake is one of my favorite things.

Here in AZ, a little CAN of real crab meat is $18.

I once had crab cakes in the White House.  They were good.

the outback here is well managed

they do a better than average service

a salesman I know likes it and we dine there once a month or so.

I've been to others that are just bad in comparison

Best crab cakes by far are at Gaido's in Galveston

They won't let me give blood anymore. The burnt orange color scares the hell out of the doctors.
