The uoper left map shows most of the island.  The current area of flow is pretty flat and spread out so the rate has slowed, but it's getting closer to the highway.  The pink area shows lava flows over about 200 years or so, it would take quite some time for this one to get down to the beach areas where resorts are.  I hope.

Hawaii's Kilauea volcano is one of the world's longest erupting volcanos. It has been erupting since January 3, 1983. The word "Kilauea" means "much spreading" or "spewing" in Hawaiian.

My sister in law is from Hilo on the big island.  Her parents and grandparents still live there.  This is a picture they took a couple of days ago, from Hilo Bay.
