This is a view from a Mauna Kea web cam, it's hard to imagine how huge that mountain is and how massive the eruption must be to appear like this.  You can see the very gradual slope of the mountain.  This is from about 35 miles distant.

Having been to the Big Island, I understand just how massive Mauna Loa is. Will the flow then go towards Hilo or Kona?

Currently, neither, it's heading towards the middle of the island near the Mauna Kea cutoff road.

If it really go going hard I think it would head NW in the direction of Kona, but that would have to be a massive long term eruption to reach that far.
