PRACTICAL FUSION REACTORS

The promise of limitless, carbon-free electricity has for decades inspired researchers to try to make fusion power work. Now one startup plans to deliver it to the grid by the early 2030s. Its design relies on a powerful new magnet that shattered records and should allow the company to build smaller, less expensive reactors.

A CARBON REMOVAL FACTORY

Reducing emissions is a key step to mitigating climate change. But it’s not enough, according to the UN. To avoid catastrophic future warming, we must also remove carbon dioxide from the air. The world’s biggest carbon removal factory recently opened in Iceland to do just that.

‘The “dash one” stated that an SR-71 should never be landed gear up. That’s a brilliant directive,’ Gil Bertelson, SR-71 Blackbird pilot.
This article features the story of the engine fire that plagued Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird #975 during the sortie flown on Mar. 20, 1982 by Gil Bertelson and RSO Frank Stampf as written by Bertelson himself.

Thank you very much to Jaimi Bertelson Hyde for letting us publishing her Dad’s story.

Yes, it's a kind of landmark and icon, but the food is not very good IMHO.  They aren't closing, they own some ultraprime property though.

When I was a kid, it was a kind of treat to go to the Varsity.  The had a big sign that said "Have your money in hand and your order in mind.", which I took to heart.  You can be standing 30 feet away and if they aren't busy they yell at you "What'll ya have?".

It got expensive somehow.  A chili slaw dog costs $4.09, which is more than a gallon of regular at Costco.

The building evaporators are on the fritz apparently so both my ACs are down right now.

It's not too heinous yet.

I had to share this, as you guys will like it.  Listening to Sam Harris' podcast, on Biden's speaking:  it's like your mom doing parkour.

My friend is making her first big cost/investment in her house today - a brand new AC unit for $10K.  She's stressed for some reason.

😂😂😂

hope not. Flying Delta tomorrow.  West Palm Beach to Detroit so Delta hub to Delta hub and early in the day.
going to get out of this suffocating humidity for a week and enjoy the cool crisp air of northern Michigan
try to hit up Supino's in the Eastern Market in Detroit before you go if you've never been. Absolutely phenomenal pizza. Better than any pizza I've ever had pretty much anywhere in the entire US aside from maybe Lucali's in Brooklyn. Those two are tied for me.

So, a fan blade broke off in the water chiller so we have no AC for 3-5 days.  Looking for a place to stay in the mountains somewhere.

I used to spend some time in Charlevoix in the Summer and bow hunting in the Fall.  Still have family there that we visit occasionally.  Used to love watching the Michigan v. Sparty game at the Townhouse.
