Krampus has been scaring bad kids in December since before Christianity came to Europe.

not sure how effective scaring bad kids has been over the centuries, but my mother was good at it.

Me too. A blast like this is almost always politically motivated. However, with the reports of gunshots an hour earlier, I could also imagine this to be an effort to conceal responsibility for a murder.
Identity of the person responsible, whether dead or alive, will almost certainly be determined.

I am happy that almost no one was hurt. And I’m also a little happy that it happened on the holiday, because it meant considerably less fascination which means less ugly quick speculation, which is nice

The bomb thing is fortunately difficult to pull off.  Detonators are closely controlled.  It usually means someone with a fair bit of skill is involved.  I find it odd they called ahead on 15 minutes to clear the area, which is hardly enough time, but no one was close by apparently.

Perfect day for golf. 6 pars and a birdie, but still only managed +18 (bogey golf) because of a few blow up holes...

Your getting there.   What typically causes your blowup holes? Is it errant T-shots?

True. But I have found that there are two kinds of bogey golfers. The first kind is the player that pretty much bogeys every hole give or take.

The second kind is someone who is learning and has the potential to shoot pretty low scores. They get many pars and even a few birdies but then they get doubles and triples because usually they whack the ball out of bounds or something crazy like that.

Are used to be that guy but now I have eliminated the blowup holes in frequently get into the 70s but usually no worse than the low 80s

golf is not a game of how many good shots you make but rather how many bad shots you make

yup, don't miss big, small misses

I can and do still ruin a good round with a triple bogey or a couple doubles

I can always find a way to screw it up

OB or hazards tend to contribute to any of my doubles or triples.  I mean I can lay the sod over a full short iron from time to time but I'm  past the stage of my golfing life playing military golf or four jacking.  Scrambling seems to be something I'm very comfortable with.   I really do credit Dave Pelz' short game Bible for that.   I read that sucker 20 years ago and not a round goes by without me thinking about his work.
