Huskers won the turnover battle 2-0

4-0 and probably cover like Michigan - not great - not good
Michigan offense was all-time bad last year.

Last night's game Michigan had:

More yards of total offense (452) than it did in ANY game in 2024.
More passing yards (251) than it did in ANY game in 2024.
More rushing yards (201) than it did in 11 games in 2024.
More offensive points scored (34) than it did in 12 games in 2024.

Last year Michigan's longest passing play was 36 yards. Bryce Underwood's 11th pass attempt went for 39 yards, beating the longest pass play they had all season last year.

Michigan offensive plays of 50+ yards:

Season opener vs. New Mexico: 2
In the entire 2024 season: 2

Michigan pass plays of 30+ yards:

Season opener vs. New Mexico: 2
In the entire 2024 season:

lot of new faces and kinks to work out on offense- and it was just a weird ass game in general. watch it for yourself if you want. horrendous officiating, trick plays, and a muffed kick return pretty much gifted New Mexico all their points. again, I blame Temp430. bastage.

I'll give New Mexico props I guess. They fought, didn't quit. Head coach threw the kitchen sink, QB took a beating and kept throwing picks, and that TE #7 they have is actually really damn good and could be a P4 starter on a lot of teams imo.

Did you watch the game? Honest question because reading a box score can be very misleading. I’ll give you two easy examples. One of the turnovers was the NM qb on 4th down at their own 40 throwing it up for grabs, got picked and acted like a punt at Michigan’s own 20 and if they would have batted it down instead of the turnover, they would have had the ball on the NM 40 instead of their own 20.

2) looking at a box score, Arch Manning had 170 yards passing and 38 yards rushing to Sayin’s 126 and 2. The box score would say Sayin was pretty bad, when in reality is he ran a very efficient offense and should have been 16/20 with more yardage due to dropped passes.

Seeing stats doesn’t tell the entire story. I’ll give New Mexico, especially their offense and qb credit. Qb got destroyed all night and kept getting up and made some pretty incredible throws. Secondly, some of the trick plays were wild and successful.

as an M fan, my concern is the defense is not what it’s been the last 2-3 years, especially the d-line. That being said, their offense finally has a pulse. We’ll learn a lot this week. That being said, if I’m a stud receiver that’s considering transferring or a superstar coming out of high school that could start day 1, I’d be watching Underwood very closely. if I’m receiver #1, I’d want to be with that qb.

They did. Fumble on a kickoff return.  Sort of to the point. Some turnovers are a huge advantage, some are not. A team can have two turnovers and the other zero but if both turnovers were Hail Mary passes at the end of the game and end of the first half, it may not tell the story because the advantage gained from those specific turnovers would be minimal. Now that being said, 2 of the 3 New Mexico turnovers were impactful.

lol you son of a gun.

no they play Oklahoma in Norman. there is NO WAY they win that game imo. too early in the season for an OL that shows promise but needs time to gel and it's the true frosh QB's 2nd college start ever. would much rather this game have been scheduled like games 4-6 than game 2. oh well.
