Didn't Georgia Tech win their co-NC by beating a fairly meh (like 8-4?) Nebraska team?
Yes,  Nebraska (9-3 final record, TO never won fewer than 9 games) wore all white unis.  Not that anybody cares, but Nebraska imploded that season following the Colorado game where they were up 12-0 after 3 and CU scored 27 points on a dark drab rainy late afternoon in Lincoln.  I'd argue and I'm pretty sure I remember T.O. talking about it was the only time he recalls where he felt he lost a team.  They went through the motions beating KU 41-9, and then they got steamrolled against a mediocre Gary Gibbs OU team in Norman 45-10, and limped into the Citrus Bowl #19, lowest ranking since Oct 1981, with mystery QBs, as Mickey Joseph suffered that lacerated leg crashing into the bench in the 1st half of the OU game.  Johnny Mitchell was about the only highlight down the stretch, and he was simply auditioning for NFL teams.  The defense was really poor during that stretch, a big inspiration for Osborne & McBride moving to the 4-3 a couple seasons later.

It was this game which is why I remember so much of that Cotton Bowl that year,  I couldn't turn away from it, the Canes and the flags, oh, the flags, 46-3 over UT.
Edit:  Interesting trivia, Nebraska lost to all 4 teams that shared the MNC in '90,'91.

Any project like this should have a Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl.

UGA has never played in the Fiesta Bowl. . . .
OU has never played in the Peach Bowl.

Or the Alamo Bowl, or the Liberty Bowl, or the Texas Bowl, or the First Responder Bowl, which are all Big 12-contracted bowls.

Quote
I think they have played in every other bowl except some obscure ones like the Pinstripe or the Pouhlan Weedeater  or the Oil Bowl.

There was such a thing once.
For all the ridiculous bowl names out there, there's a good ole' one lying around unused: the Bluebonnet Bowl.  OU played there (in Houston) in 1968 (losing to Jerry Levias-led SMU) and 1970 (tying Alabama).

I remember OU getting trucked in the Copper Bowl by BYU in the mid 90s period.

Yep.  Gary Gibbs' last year, and if there was ever a coach who lost his team, he was the coach, with that team, in that season.
I was going to post upthread that OU had never played in the Cheez-It Bowl, but if you go back far enough, it was once the Copper Bowl.

For goofy bowl names, it's hard to top the Poulan Weedeater Independence Bowl of 1990-96.

So it should be based entirely on their win-loss record?
It's the only thing that matters, apparently.
Appeasing the masses.

Oh, it has a special place in all our hearts.

I remember my first trip to the little apple for the N at KSU '94 edition and seeing some dude with a 1982 Independence Bowl sweatshirt.  I remember that because I remember watching that game, that might have been ESPN's first ever bowl telecast.  We went to Ground Round or something like that to watch it, we didn't have cable then.  Wisconsin's first bowl win, and KSU's first ever bowl, the weather sucked big time.

We had a GR in Cincy near us, we went there on occasion back in the day.  In hindsight, it was mediocre at best, but relatively cheap.  The wife and I ended up at Longhorn for lunch the other day, sort of by accident.  It also was mediocre and relatively cheap.  I suppose that is true for nearly every chain, unless they are just bad.

Some now are not that cheap, like Capitol Grill, which is more like half decent and not very cheap.  I don't care for it at the price.

We have some "chains" here where every outlet has a very different theme and food style, which is interesting.

What is the most interesting bowl game for you aside from your team's (or the semis)?

Alabama - Michigan?
