Heisman Choice

We should have this about a week out, every year.
Next time!

tough call. I'd go Cam Ward or Travis Hunter. Miami would legit be a 6 loss team without Cam Ward. Colorado is basically a two man team in Shedeur and Hunter, and we haven't really ever seen a player truly go both ways the way Hunter does. I'd go with one of those two, flip a coin. Probably lean towards Cam Ward just because he QB'd Miami to 10-2 and was a ~unacceptable vulgar term for part of female anatomy~ hair away from having them 11-1 or 12-0....and that's with a clown like Mario Cristobal as his head coach and a laughably god awful defense backing him up.

Ashton Jeanty is a straight up beast but his week in week out competition level does absolutely suck which diminishes his stats a bit imo and Dillon Gabriel is a very good college QB in a great system on a great team- but he shouldn't have been nominated imo.

Yeah, for me, if you're a G5 RB, you're going to have to surpass Gordon and maybe even Barry Sanders to get the actual Heisman.

As amazing as his WR stats are and his being a good CB (4 INTs + 11 PD), just the sheer volume of plays Hunter's on the field is unprecedented.  You'd have to go back to the 50s to find players doing the same, which pre-dates the data, lol.
To be playing far more than anyone else AND playing at such a high level, the kid has earned it, imo.

Through most of the week going, it seemed like this is where it would end. And honestly, it seems fine.

He had a pretty bunker season. He did some very cool and unusual stuff. The field is pretty weak. Fine and good outcome.

agreed. he's a more than worthy winner. was doing things we frankly haven't ever seen before.

Cam Ward probably takes the trophy home if Miami goes 12-0 and doesn't drop games to Georgia Tech & Syracuse.

This is why every Heisman-winner's first words should be to thank his teammates.  God wasn't holding the other team to a field goal.  Your parents didn't pick up that blitzing LB.  The game is so reliant on individuals playing as a team that a bad defense can cost Ward a Heisman.

Typically this award is not west centric with candidates.

I had not, and do not, pay attention.  Congrats to whoever won, I guess.

at least it was a "most outstanding player" and not a QB

Cam Ward is a hometown kid ( went to my HS ). Sucks he didn’t win, but one hell of a success story. From non recruited to heisman top 4.
