I'm busy printing and cutting for WN, but in taking a break, I was looking at all-time HC records.
It's interesting to see which HCs from different eras wound up with similar W-L records. I thought I'd share a few.
Keep in mind this isn't just comparing similar win%, but actual W-L. So while Saban and Dabo are basically the same in win%, Saban has like double the volume. So they wouldn't be grouped here.
.
~150 W, 75 L:
Kyle Whittingham, Mike Gundy, Terry Donahue, Les Miles, Dennis Erickson
I would have guessed Erickson had a better win%. Donahue spent most of his time at UCLA. Whittingham and Gundy are contemporaries, obviously.
.
~180 W, 30 L:
Urban Meyer + Gen. Robert Neyland
Hard to find a comp for Meyer's career, but go back 80 years and find a legend.
