Not sure about that call, but feel bad complaining with Patterson hurt
I'm surprised it was seen, but by technical definition for at least a femtomoment, the hands were in the face. So feel it's the right call. However the rule was drawn because that can be dangerous, and in this case it wasn't and the injury is from the rest of the tackle.

The wolverines would be within 14 had they not gone for 2 those two times.

Yup.  Chasing points is generally a poor idea anyway, and he started doing in in the first half which is just foolish.

In retrospect, for sure. Though, I don't think the M coaches foresaw OSU scoring this many. And they honestly shouldn't have predicted this. So I'm pretty forgiving of that. If this were any other defense, they were the wrong calls right away. In a low-scoring game, it's at least debatable. Still perhaps the wrong move. Of course, even that is easier to say after they fail. Right now, at worst, they were "maybe wrong."

Woof. A lot of failures here. In retrospect, Michigan will definitely have wished it had forfeited instead.

How long until we get to say: "Well, at least we tied for 1st in the Division, which at least removes one empty hot take. I guess that's progress" and sulk until August?

That starts now, right? I think now is when. Is it? Already?

Michigan still had a pass rush versus Maryland. We lost it 2-3 weeks ago for unknown reasons versus weaker OLs (beginning with Rutgers, and also absent versus IU).
Piggy can escape pressure, can throw, and can run better than Hill.
No one believes Piggy can throw, which is dead wrong, so Michigan would have had to keep an eye on both QB, RB, and threat of the pass, unlike with Hill.
Game planning changes quite a bit when the QB is a threat to do ANYTHING other than stand there like a statue.

Michigan isn't actually 23 points worse than OSU. This score isn't about talent differential. It's about bleah:

(1) Harbaugh clearly wanted to force his team's run first/TOP identity on OSU. It didn't work. And he adapted too slowly to win. The air raid worked once he started, but he wasted 2.5 quarters on run-run-pass beforehand.

(2) Michigan had the nation's best pass rush but only until the Rutgers game. I have no idea what happened. Rashan Gary came back that week. But that can't be it. (I think.) Anyway, Michigan had no pass rush v. the Sc.Knights or Hoosiers, either.

On the few games they pressured Haskins, he was errant as he has been all year. But Michigan was well below average in that.

Definitely his best season. Freshman QB looks promising.
