I heard and read about 74 times about how Dabo didn't use the portal.  He could be on a hottish kind of seat now.    Supposedly, Clemson and FSU wanted to bail out of the ACC and into the SEC, maybe they feel differently now?

Vandy beat VaTech in OT after blowing a 17-0 lead, when that happens Vandy usually folds tent.  Miami did flatten Florida of course, so now folks view them as the ACC favorite I reckon.  Florida may well end up 4-8.

I saw Iowa scored some points, maybe they are a B1G favorite now?  Maybe not.
Clemson was one of only 4 programs not to take a porthole player. Don't think Dabo's refusal to porthole is the only issue.

They haven't been able to get a QB or develop offense at all outside of Deshaun Watson or Trevor Lawerence. Dabo has had three 5* #1 or #2 QB 'croots after those guys and all of em have stunk. So either Dabo and the 'crootin' sites are whiffing on those evals or Dabo just can't develop QB's. Probably a bit of both.

hot take: Michigan defense and special teams are amongst the very best in the nation. offense is booty cheeks largely because QB stinks and OL is still a work in progress- think OL will start to gel but it's gonna take a few games. Unfortunately probably screwed at QB no matter what however.

Texas wins by 7-10 next week. I don't see any way in hell Michigan can win that game with the offense they have as constructed. It's just impossible.
I think it's closer than that.  Michigan looked like a week1 team with a new head coach and a ton of new players. Week2 is going to be different.

I have this working theory that no team is as bad, or as good, as they look in week1.  I said it's just a theory. :)

It's gonna be a fun game in the Big House.

Been saying that for years.   Week 1 overreaction.

First game, caveats apply of course, but on a national scale, I thought, Georgia, Texas, Penn State, and Miami all looked pretty damn good.

We should see how LSU looks versus USC.
Georgia is winning it all imo. Beck is so efficient, calm, in control, throws a great looking ball too. Malaki Starks is the best safety in the game. Bar none. I'm all in on Miami being "back" and I never buy the Miami hype, but I am buying because: Cam Ward is that dude. Texas is really good, but we knew this, they gonna whoop on Michigan and just sucks Michigan has to play them week 2 and not week 10. Penn State took care of business, but still not buying. Beat Ohio State once in your life, then talk to me.

LSU-USC probably going to be a 51-48 type game. will either team have a defense?

Idk just feel like Michigan OL ain't going to be quite where it needs to be week 2 to have a shot at beating Texas. If it was week 6-8-10, sure maybe. But right now- it's still trying to gel and become a unit. Michigan doesn't have a legit QB1. Texas has two. They have a really good one with lot of experience and the guy backing that really good one up might be even better.

Michigan will have the defense and special teams to keep it close, but I think their defense buckles a bit and tires out late from having to be on the field so much because it's offense can't sustain drives and give their defense a breather- and that Texas pulls away and wins by 7-10 points, maybe even 14.

I really think the QB play/offense is that bad.

Also, Fresno was stupid for continuing to throw towards Will Johnson. Talk about poking the bear until he’s awake and mad lol.

I think Michigan versus Texas will be an absolute slobber knocker!
Michigan o-line and qb play looks very mediocre. I think defense will keep it close but I see Texas pulling away winning by 14-17. Michigan still has a similar problem I’ve felt for a couple year, their play calling is beyond conservative at times they need to take even reasonably small chances.

Add Ohio State in there my friend. I was wondering if the hype was accurate about Smith and it certainly was. Only concern looked to be the o-line at times, but o-line takes some time to gel and the rest of the talent is pretty impressive.

Hey, let's give Nebraska some credit too.  They looked like a legitimate team for the first time in a long time.  Raiola looked poised and comfortable, and he performed very well.  I think they're in the mix in the top third of the B1G.

A question always is whether the winner was impressive or the loser is really really bad ....

I think OL will round into shape. Just going to take time.

Michigan is screwed at QB. Davis Warren is not good. And they won't change the offense into a spread option heavy rushing attack and give Alex Orji a fair shot.

Play-calling/scheme on offense has always sucked at Michigan. Zero creativity, zero ability to scheme guys open. Last time they had that was....RichRod. Should tell you everything that JJ went top 10 in the NFL draft and yet didn't really do a whole lot at Michigan. JJ had high end arm talent and was an excellent athlete and anyone with a brain could see that day one. Apparently not the Michigan coaches though because they started Cade McNamara over him that rookie season in 2021.

Raiola played well.  Nothing spectacular

It's no insult to be considered in the top third of the B1G.  There are many very strong teams in that group, including the defending national champs.

I would like to thank the University of Alabama for Isaiah Bond, he's a monster.  Texas WR corps is going to be pretty filthy this year.
