hot take: Michigan defense and special teams are amongst the very best in the nation.
Um horse-cart,Congratulations on all you ignore,While Michigan looked good in places Frez definitely helped them out some. Michigan's 1st score came literally right after a perfect pass bounced off the BullDog WR to an M - DB,congrats he held on to it. 99% receivers pick up the 1st down perhaps more. At least once in the 1st half Bulldogs QB missed an open strike for 6.And with 12 minutes left in the game Bulldoggs drove 79 yds for 6.Michigan's O marched the ball down the field late in the game vs a tired Dogs defense that had been on the field alot and also traveled from the left coast

I'm gonna hammer Texas at -3.5 if it's still there ;D

I've felt this way about him for a while.
I don't think it's hard to see why. his coaches have no clue how to use him properly.

zero screen passes thrown to him. zero times did they motion him out from the backfield into the slot and throw the football to him. zero times did they line him up out wide at WR and throw the football to him.

they don't let him get into a rhythm, they'll give him 1 or 2 carries here and there and they'll try to make him pound it up the gut between the tackles instead of running toss sweeps or stretch runs designed to get him to the outside. he's not a between the tackles bruiser.

they need to feed him the ball consistently and they need to use him in the passing game.

hot take: Michigan defense and special teams are amongst the very best in the nation. offense is booty cheeks largely because QB stinks and OL is still a work in progress- think OL will start to gel but it's gonna take a few games. Unfortunately probably screwed at QB no matter what however.

Texas wins by 7-10 next week. I don't see any way in hell Michigan can win that game with the offense they have as constructed. It's just impossible.
I think you’re overreacting a little bit. We all kind of knew and agreed Michigan, Michigan defense would be nasty and of course it is just as good as advertised.
But we tend to forget that the offenses are behind the defenses this time of year.  I watched a lot of games these last few days and that was the common theme and just about every game.

I thought the Michigan quarterback looked pretty damn decent for a first time out last night. Relatively efficient and not making too many mistakes. On some deeper throws but again that was the common theme I saw watching mini games.

I did overestimate the running game as seen in our thread where I picked Michigan to get 280 yards. But that was probably optimistic. Given that Michigan‘s offensive line needs a little bit of time to gel.  They looked better and better as that game wore on into the later stages.

Going to stick with my original thought that they will be an extremely tough out or anybody on their schedule and they have a very high ceiling and a very high floor as well

If LSU can beat USC,  It will be the first time that I picked every game and got everyone right. ( and last time, no doubt😂)

of course I'm over-reacting, I'm a psycho fan :93:

I do think they'll eventually get the OL figured out. I have faith in Sherrone Moore. That was always going to take 4-6 weeks to gel and no way it was going to be a unit week 1 with 5 all new starters.

They still have no clue how to use Donovan Edwards' talents properly and I don't think they'll ever get a clue there.

And I'm sorry but I just don't see it with Davis Warren. He locks onto his first read and holds the ball too long and his deep ball is pretty bad. Overthrows or under-throws everything past 15 yards in the air. I still think they screwed up not starting Alex Orji and going full on spread option.

This was McCord - repeatedly, the guy was wound tighter than a cheap watch. Some guys go with the flow others seem to fight it.I'd mix Warren in the 1st Qtr and see how he does. The minute it appears he's on UTs payroll pull him

I felt like later in the game when Mullings was getting some big holes that Donovan Edwards would’ve turned those into touchdowns.   He is a Homerun hitter and a Homerun hitter as a running back just needs a shot at getting to the second level.   They will begin to find those opportunities more as the season wears on.

Also, Fresno was stupid for continuing to throw towards Will Johnson. Talk about poking the bear until he’s awake and mad lol.

I think Michigan versus Texas will be an absolute slobber knocker!

yeah I definitely agree, one of those runs Mullings popped for like 20- Edwards probably houses that one.

they don't feed Edwards consistently enough, they don't get him involved in the passing game like at all, and they don't run outside runs with him that often. not saying he's Reggie Bush at all- but if you want a usage case study- that's how you should be using Edwards- lot of outside the tackles runs and throw him the football.

they seem insisting on forcing Edwards to be a between the tackles runner and then they won't give him a bunch of carries in a row to get into a rhythm like they did with Mullings in that 2nd half.

I remember some site that was entitled "Week X Over Reactions", it was pretty good, and reminded me the "we" are very prone to the OR thingee.

I heard and read about 74 times about how Dabo didn't use the portal.  He could be on a hottish kind of seat now.    Supposedly, Clemson and FSU wanted to bail out of the ACC and into the SEC, maybe they feel differently now?

Vandy beat VaTech in OT after blowing a 17-0 lead, when that happens Vandy usually folds tent.  Miami did flatten Florida of course, so now folks view them as the ACC favorite I reckon.  Florida may well end up 4-8.

I saw Iowa scored some points, maybe they are a B1G favorite now?  Maybe not.

I said that during the game- that Fresno coach and QB were complete morons for continually baiting Will Johnson. He tried to jump one route and barely missed the INT and the Fresno defender caught the ball and got a 15 yard gain. He also bit hard on a slant and tried to jump that but it wasn't a slant- he got fooled pretty badly- it was a sluggo- and it should've been a TD but the Fresno WR couldn't haul it in. It was only a matter of time before he was going to make them pay, and he shut the door on them in a pretty dramatic way....jumped the WR screen and housed it 86 yards for a pick 6.

The defensive rotation was pretty stupid, they kept putting in their 3rd and 4th CB's and their backup nickel on the field in the 2nd and 3rd QTR when they were up only 4 or 7 pts and keeping Will Johnson & Jyaire Hill and Zeke Berry on the bench. That drive Fresno scored a TD was a case of that. Also: Wink Martindale should never run a cover 0 all-out blitz again. He had his CB 10 yards off the WR, if you're going to run that blitz make the corners press, maybe? Also: Wink you have an ungodly defensive front that Fresno wasn't able to block all game- you didn't need to blitz at all.

Texas is going to win pretty easily unfortunately. I just don't see anyway that Michigan can score points on offense.

First game, caveats apply of course, but on a national scale, I thought, Georgia, Texas, Penn State, and Miami all looked pretty damn good.

We should see how LSU looks versus USC.
