Well, that was disappointing.  Bama fixed their OL issues big time.  If they play like that, maybe Michigan has a chance, I'm not sure they do.

Michigan is another team that can look strong one week and so so the next.
well, Michigan has looked pretty strong last 5 weeks in a row. And they have been on-fire the last 3 weeks.

Lmao. Funny 'cause it's true. Kirby is the same dude who thought Jake Fromm was a better option at QB than Justin Fields....so...

Glad your enjoying it SM!  They are on an amazing journey.

They aren’t flukeing their way, they have an identity and are imposing it over 60 minutes, in all 3 phases.

There isn’t a team left they aren’t capable of beating. In fact- I will say right now I think they spank Georgia if that’s who they get.

if/ when they face Bama- they are capable of doing exactly what they did to OSU. It would be tougher because Bama has a bit more mobility at QB, and they won’t have the cold weather and hostile home crowd. But it is doable.
I am not sold on Georgia at all. They have a HS QB starting for them, their offense lacks speed- I mean for christ sake their best, most dangerous, biggest play option on offense is a freshman white-boy TE from Nappa Valley. George Pickens is a nice WR but he's basically a Nico Collins clone- 6'4/6'5 jump ball threat- but doesn't have the speed to take the top off a defense. Cook is shifty as hell but lacks top end speed. White has straight-line speed but no change of direction and he's playing on two cobbled together knees. Not seeing any one on their offense with that real home-run hitter speed- and again they have a high school QB starting for them. Their defense is without question the most overrated "elite" defense I have ever seen. The secondary is awful and they have no pass rush without blitzing. Their defensive line is a bunch of run stuffers who cannot rush the passer. Give me Aidan Hutchinson & Ojabo over any of the giant run stuffing DL's they have all day long and twice on Saturdays.

Having said that, I think I'd rather play Bama. I think Michigan matches up even better with Bama. This game is a game of match-ups. Bama O was a terrible match-up for Georgia D. Georgia D is built to stop the run. Bama has been mediocre running it all year- they are a pass heavy team. And Georgia has a flat out bad secondary and cannot get any pressure on the QB without blitzing. That's an awful recipe when facing a QB like Bryce Young and WR's like Williams & Metchie. Metchie went down with an ACL however, and if you play Bama- roll coverage to Jameson Williams- DO NOT let him get behind you and beat you- and if you can rush with 4 and get pressure- you can slow Bama's offense down. Michigan can rush with 4 and get pressure- and they have a much better secondary than Georgia.

It goes to show how syllogism doesn't work in CFB very well at all, something we all knew.  Bama struggled with Arkansas at home and UGA beat them 37-0.  UGA looked a lot better against every common opponent.  But UGA lacks that elite Heisman level QB which has been a common theme with elite teams of late.

I'm guessing they slot UGA at 3 to play UM, I don't think they have played since 1965.  Bama will get Cincy.
It doesn't work in sports, period. Styles make fights. The games are all about match-ups. Georgia's secondary is bad. Like really bad. Georgia cannot get any pressure with 4- they don't have pass rushers on their defensive line. They had to blitz to get any semblance of pressure- and when they blitzed their man coverage got torched. And when they zone blitzed- they had busts in their zone coverage like they were doing it on purpose. It was ugly.

So, does Michigan slide into the top spot?

I would think so.

2. Bama
3. Cincy
4. Georgia

they should. but they won't.

they'll put....

1) Bama
2) Michigan
3) Georgia
4) Cincy

they'll do all they can to avoid an immediate Bama/UGA rematch.

Why are you even posting this on this thread?
Mario can dish it, but he can't take it.

What a surprise.

Fundamentally, I agree that they'll avoid the Bama/UGA rematch.

You can make an argument (a weak one) for Cincinnati at 3 at 13-0 and conference champ over a 12-1 team that didn't win their conference. You can also make an argument (a correct one IMHO) that if this is a power ranking, Georgia > Cincinnati.

I suspect they'll pick Michigan/Bama first, and then use whichever argument they prefer for Cincinnati/Georgia, to avoid the Bama/Georgia rematch.

They can try to avoid a rematch all they want, but it'll be SEC-SEC-SEC for the NC all the same.

Maybe.   I like Michigan over Georgia.

Last time there was a rematch of the SEC CG in the NC, the opposite team won. Does it happen again?

they should try to avoid that- as the ratings last time an All-SEC NC happened the ratings absolutely sucked.

not so hot take: they want Michigan in the final- because they want the ratings. Michigan brings ratings. A Georgia/Bama rematch won't.
