Please don't mistake me for a Rich Rod defender, but I am confused. They did a full investigation a year ago on the claim and closed it without any findings.

I am starting to wonder if the current climate becomes a tool for which to fire a coach with cause. When the undertones are that it is really performance and relationship based.
My understanding is that they did the investigation and found that there was insufficient evidence to the claims to fire him with cause.  However, even though there was not enough evidence for that particular claim, they found out some things that made them......uncomfortable..... about Rich Rod's actions.  Combine that with the general direction of the program and they felt they were better off terminating his contract.  Therefore, he is not being fired with cause and is due the remainder of the money on his contract.

Any Arizona fans, you know what this looks like on the frontlines more than we would, what's the inside scoop?

It's all rumors right now but apparently RichRod was having an affair and getting fellow coaches to cover it up - which explains the hostile work environment allegations.

Here's a detailed read of all that came out of the investigation

Can't defend RichRod at all on this one. Went full Matt Lauer.

It's been an embarrassing past year for the University of Arizona Athletic Department (in order) -

Track coach arrested and taking to criminal court for assaulting and stalking his numerous female athletes.

Basketball program goes under investigation by the FBI for recruiting bribery scandal.

Now RichRod let go after years of bullying and degrading female employees of the UA AD.

Even though RichRod's behavior warrants firing "with cause" the University plans to give him the full $7 million dollar buyout so as to avoid the cost of lawyers and lawsuits and getting further dragged into the national news; see Rick Pitino suing Louisville for $40 million.

Those gymnastics spotters have got to be getting a little nervous, under the current climate.

Reading it, you can see how a victim gets trapped in the vacuum of power. Absolute power is corrupt. Something tells me much of the Arizona buyout will be handed right over to the complainant in the lawsuit in this cases. its interesting that she only listed Rodriguez as a party in the lawsuit and not the University, especially with the track record they have recently with their Track Coach.
