College Football in the Time of Corona: A Stream
« on: September 03, 2020, 06:39:12 AM »
Here it is, in all it's glory.  Actual Division 1 FBS football starts tonight.  Not sure about having a Saturday SOC - I guess we'll see how it goes.  Anyways, tonight we have two games.

Central Arkansas v. UAB, 8 pm, ESPN3: UAB is the 17 point favorite, and comes off a season where they were the runner up in CUSA last year and took a loss in the New Orleans Bowl.  They tend to be a defense first outfit, and they play the U next Thursday, so it should be interesting to see how they look.  One advantage for Central Arkansas - they just played on Saturday, and getting some game experience seems like an advantage this year.

S. Alabama v. Southern Miss, 9 pm, CBSSN: Southern Miss was a fairly average CUSA team last year, and is favored by 16 tonight.  Not sure anyone expecting a lot from them, but these teams combined for 48 turnovers last year, so adding COVID into the mix we could get some kind of wackiness.

I'm not completely clear on the ESPN3 thing.  I'm aware they have that as there streaming service and not on traditional cable, but I'm unclear if I can watch it on Hulu.  I guess I'll find out.

I'm a little unclear as well. I believe if you have Hulu Live TV, you can access ESPN3 content through the ESPN app. You activate your app with your Hulu account.

They now have ESPN+ though. Which I believe is different. Hulu credentials won't get you ESPN+ content, but I believe it will get you ESPN3 content.

But either way, you definitely need the ESPN app on your streaming device to access either.

ESPN+ is additional money, ESPN3 is free.

We have ESPN3 as an app on Comcast, but have to use the Roku for ESPN+

I have Hulu live tv. I've read sometimes they directly stream espn 3 content. I guess I'll see if it comes on before fooling around with their app. Less stress than when I went to watch an OSU Nebraska game only to find they had reserved streaming rights for Fubo only.

Sitting in my back yard, sipping an Oktoberfest.  Or is it Octoberfest? It was a little muggy today but I can feel the breeze moving that out of here, supposed to drop into the high 50's by morning.  I'll poor out a drop for OSU-Illinois, which was to be tonight. Ordered a crappy pizza for the girls because I'm too sad to cook. But not too sad to drink a couple beers.

Hey I was thinking of you the other day.  My wife was watching something on Netflix about a BBQ restaurant in Texas.  Snow's?  I think? Anyway had an 86 year old lady named Tootsie running the pit.  Ever been there?

Not a day over 95 degrees predicted here in the next 14 days, and there's even one day in that mix with a high in the 70s and a low of 59 degrees.

Good enough to call it Marzen weather here as well.  Think I'll have a Live Oak Oaktoberfest tonight to celebrate!

Yup, fantastic BBQ and Tootsie is a treasure.

They're only open on Saturdays, so you have to drive out and get in line pretty early because they sell out quick.  It's about a 60-mile drive from where I live.  I haven't done it lately, but I'm usually good for a trip out there about once per year.  Really old-school Texas meat market BBQ.  Tons of history and atmosphere.

I highly recommend it to anyone in the area.
