Well, I guess it's time.

New offense and defense in Madison. What will we see?

On defense, UW will not stray too far from what they've been doing since 2013. DL will eat up space and let the LB's make plays. There will be some new wrenches too, based on the talent at hand. UW is thinnest at the DL position, so we'll see a lot of 2 DL's, 4 LB's, 2-3 S's and 2-3 CB's. The secondary is very deep - flush with transfers. LB is a position of strength.

On offense, well, it will be a lot different, but in Coach Fickell's words in an interview on CBS yesterday, it will NOT be an air raid. It will be far more balanced than we've been used to. No more 9-man boxes, for sure. I expect big things from the tailbacks and WR - a room also flush with transfers - a room that's as deep as I've ever seen in Madison. We'll see sets with 2 tailbacks as well. UW has two of them who could start on almost every B1G team. The QB will be interesting. 3 transfers will do that.

What I would like to see early is the balance I've been hearing about.

First half:

UW 150 yards passing, 100 yards rushing.

Second half:

UW 60 yards passing, 200 yards rushing - starters out by first series of Q4.

I do not know much about Buffalo, other than they won 7 games last year to finish 7-6, with a win over Georgia Southern in the bowl game. No idea what they lost or gained. Could not find a message board to gather anything.

I did find this on their website:

I need to look closer at their offense, but I know they have a defensive-minded head coach.

Whenever the topic is Buffalo @ Wisconsin, the discussion is always scintillating, or nonexistent.

I'm going to stay a bit conservative here. I don't think Buffalo will score much, and I don't think UW is gonna open it up much - game one and all that.

31-6, Wisconsin wins.

I posted the depth on the (now) season thread earlier this week, but would-be starters DL Isiah Mullens and TE Riley Nowakowski are both out for today. Mullens could be a while, which could prove problematic.

No, not doing those this year.  Not nearly enough time

Wisconsin looks like the Barry Alvarez, Brett Beliema, Wisconsin teams. The Badgers have running backs and an o-line for running the ball like no other.

I've been telling everyone that this will NOT be an air raid team. They are just spreading it out a lot more. Maybe we can call it cheese spread.

The QB is not very good.

UW 314 yards rushing, and 189 yards passing. 503 total yards.

Most starters were not out until much later.

Looks to dance little too much when the pressure comes. Lots of back foot throws. Doesn't see the field well. Those two picks were inexcusable.
