Big Ten Network
« on: August 11, 2017, 07:07:49 PM »
I didn't see a thread to add this to so I'll just start a new one. Does anyone else get upset with the lack of variety with their programming? I like BTN Live and The Journey. Other than that it seems that they only play football games from the last 5 years with Big Ten Elite sprinkled in between. Is it something with the royalties due for older games. I've found myself watching the Pac 12 or dare I say the SEC Network due to the fact that they show older games. I know that I'm a UNL fan but I wouldn't mind seeing Drew Brees tearing someone up or Ron Dayne running all over somebody. Just wanted to know what other people thought.

agree that the BTN could offer a wider variety and better programming

I wish they would show more live games, such as Husker baseball

The two biggest complaints consistently around here are not enough old games, and not enough baseball.

As for the second, I don't get it, isn't every game available through BTN Plus?  Why can't they simulcast that like MLB Network does with local broadcasts.  Makes no sense.  My guess is marketing tells them they make more money holding back and forcing the small number who really care to pay the subscription fee than they do from advertising money airing them on BTN.

They used to show more 90s games when the channel first came on.  I'm guessing they must have gotten worse rating than when they showed more recent games.

Honestly across the board I haven't liked how mainstream BTN has tried to go.  It's basically an ESPNU for Big Ten only.  I liked how quirky it was for the first three or four years.

I'm sure the statistics department pours over tons of ratings metrics to determine programming and our group is a bit different than the general Big Ten fan, but............... come on man!
