Big Ten 2026 Power Rankings Before Week 10
« on: Today at 07:24:56 AM »
Halloween brings even more chaos to the Big Ten as Ohio St, NW and Wisc turn into pumpkins. Meanwhile Indiana does its weekly escape act and Nebraska does its weekly disappearing at the end act.

How are we even supposed to do Power Rankins now?  But we must try.  My rankings are in a post below.  What does everybody else think?
We are all equal but some are more equal than others.

1. UCLA - dominates Nevada.  UCLA was smart to skip conference games in week 9.  UCLA takes over #1 almost by default as its the only undefeated team left

2.  Ohio St -  despite bad loss at USC,  Ohio St still has wins over Indiana and Iowa and ILL.  But the sooner OSU gets Sayin back at QB, the better

3.  Iowa - dominates Wisc at home.  Iowa has also beat Mich and Wash on the road.  Iowa has lost at Minn and has lost to Ohio St at home.

4.  Oregon - big comeback win over NW at home.  Ore has also beat USC on the road and Neb at home. Ore has lost to ILL on the road and To UCLA at home.

5.  Wisconsin - gets embarrased at Iowa,  wisc has beat USC at home and Penn St on the road.  Wisc has lost at UCLA.

6.  USC - big win over Ohio St at home.  USC has lost at Wisc and lost to Oregon at home.

7.  Indiana -  2 straight wins in OT. Is Indy good or lucky?  Its debatable but somehow Indiana finds a way to win.

8.  Minnesota - loses in OT to Ind.  Minn has beat Iowa and Mich at home and has lost to Purdue

9.  Illinois - beats MD .  3 straight wins for ILL including win over Oregon

10.  Northwestern - loses on road to Oregon.  NW has also loss at Indiana.

11.  Washington -  come from behind win at Nebraska.

12.  Nebraska - 3 straight games with blown leads in 4Q

13.  Michigan -plays a lot of close games.  good enough to win close games against Rutgers and Penn St and to take Indiana to OT.  Not good enough to win close games against Iowa and Minn.

14.  Penn St - gets first win,  over Purdue

15.  Purdue - loses to Penn St on road.  Ready to call Purdue win over Minn a fluke.

16.  Mich St - took the week off.

17.  Rutgers -  got close but could not pull out the win against Mich

18.  Maryland - got close but could not pull out the win against ILL.

I've lost hope trying to figure out a sensible ranking for the Big Ten or the SEC.  Maybe NIL/portal parity/insanity is reaching its final form and it's just a bunch of similar teams doing a bunch of random things on the weekends.

Like the NFL, except the NFL at least has small divisions and agrees to rank the teams within it based on record.  What we've got in cfb is some Death Star conferences with extremely disparate schedules where the ranking is partly record, partly beauty contest, and partly somebody pretending they know what the hell's going on.

Anyone trying to use the transitive property this season will wind up either in a straight jacket or starting a flat-earth website.
