brutal
What's brutal about those dominant option teams is that they couldn't just run out the clock to shorten a blowout.  They physically did that, but kept scoring.

Does getting blown out not eliminate a team (95 Florida vs Nebraska, 95 Tennessee vs Florida)?

Not in the way I am looking at it: that ‘95 Florida team was better than and would’ve won National Titles over 7 or 8 of the next 10 National Championship teams. They just had the misfortune of playing an All-Timer of a Huskers team that Jan 2nd night in Tempe. Still remember watching that game as a 9 yr old.

well, they could run the FB between the center and guard over and over and over, but many times, by that point in the game, the 3rd string guys could stop that play from gaining 1st downs

95 was Wuerffel's best year and the backup had 12 TD with 2 INT (Kresser).
.
One difference I see is in 96, we beat the holy hell out of the ranked teams, aside from the FSU loss.
.
Losing to 95 Nebraska is the "best" loss anyone could have.  The blowout nature could be attributed to Florida's blocking scheme that was scouted and taken advantage of (kudos to McBride) and Florida defenders going for strips in an effort to still win the game instead of merely tackling.  It would've still been a bad loss, but wouldn't have gotten obscene.
And that was just one game.  Shouldn't negate the 12 others.

I was 19.  Great day of tailgating.   Ate so many peanuts in the shell.  Florida was up 10-6.  Doering made some plays early.   My seat doesn't exist anymore.   That deck was removed a few years ago.

hah, Gators were up, I was in a Gator section.  They were feeling good.........  a few minutes later, they wanted me run out of the stadium.  They called security.  I hadn't even used a curse word.

I stayed, they left at halftime.

1994 Colorado

don't remember why I wasn't at Memorial Stadium’s 200th consecutive sellout.
I remember watching with a few friends at a friend's restaurant.  It didn't open until later, but let me host a party in the bar.

I think because ABC regional was showing a big ten game in Iowa and the bar had a satellite dish.

Sounds like me at South Carolina's "black out" in 2001 where we spanked them 54-17, behind Rexy's passing. I was quiet and polite.
A far cry from the time we obliterated LSU and I was talking shit and got my orange afro stolen.

1957 Texas A&M. At 8-0 they were ranked #1 in AP poll ahead of Oklahoma which had won FORTY SEVEN straight games. Then it was learned that Coach Bryant was leaving for Alabama and they lost their last two regular season games to Rice and Texas.
