I mostly agree but I'm always leery of putting too much stock in one week's results.

Michigan didn't look as good as I expected but maybe Maryland is better than we thought. Alternatively maybe Maryland just played the game of their lives or Michigan had an off day, those things happen.

Minnesota definitely impressed but same as above just sub Minnesota for Michigan and MSU for Maryland.

Ohio State looked great but again, same as above just sub tOSU for Maryland and Wisconsin for Michigan.
Right on point.  We as fans tend to overreact to one game.  OSU showed what they are capable of but Michigan did before yesterday and will again.

I am not voting in this poll but my top end would look like:

Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State
Minnesota

next team.
Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

Nebraska football will return from its bye week as a slight favorite over visiting Indiana, according to early lines from online oddsmakers.

Circa Sports released its early lines on Sunday, and the Huskers are two-point favorites over the visiting Hoosiers. The teams are set for a 6:30 p.m. kick on Saturday that will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.

I love the new phrase "September Maryland."  LOL, fits so far in our B1G tenure...

edited to add that I don't like that it's accurate, I just think it's clever.

In re PSU:
I moved them to #1 last week because I thought their wins, particularly the road wins over Purdue and Auburn were much better than anything tOSU or M had.

I think I should have waited a week because, as I see it, PSU took three big hits this week:

  • They let a BAD MAC team hang around WAY too long.
  • Purdue barely surviving perennial doormat FAU severely diminished PSU's win over PU. Back when that game was played I thought PU was a dark-horse B1GCG Contender. Now I an of the opinion that the only thing Purdue is in contention for is a bowl bid.
  • Auburn needing OT and multiple miracles to beat a terrible Mizzou team severely diminished PSU's win over Auburn.

Now I think that if you ranked the quality of the wins by tOSU, PSU, and M, the Buckeyes' wins over UW and ND are the best two with PSU's win over Auburn a distant third.

To me, that makes tOSU a pretty clear #1 and moves PSU from close with tOSU for #1/2 to close with M for #2/3.

Then there is Minnesota. Prior to this weekend they felt like Michigan lite. Both the Gophers and Wolverines had played nothing but horrible opponents and it seemed like Michigan was handling theirs a little more dominantly than Minnesota. This weekend both of them got much tougher opponents and while Michigan struggled MUCH more than I expected, the Gophers REALLY impressed me. Maybe MSU isn't all that good, but the Gophers made them look like an FCS team and a bad FCS team at that.

I'm a lot happier with that than with what Northwestern usually does.

Maryland looks great OOC then folds in league play and that makes our league look spectacular!

Northwestern typically looks like trash OOC then contends for or wins the B1G-W which makes our league look awful.

Yeah, don't write off the "even numbered year" Wildcats just yet. Lol.

They are still 1-0 in Conference/Division.

Maybe MSU isn't all that good MSU isn't very good, but the Gophers made them look like an FCS team and a bad FCS team at that (So true).
I struggled with where to slot the Gophers. So I went with my incremental approach to put them in 4th and retain the Big 3 from the East in their usual positions. The Big 3 East teams will start to defeat each other (except Ohio State will defeat the others), and if Minnesota continues winning, they could rise to 2nd in the power rankings.
Minnesota has a weak Eastern Division schedule of MSU, Penn State, and Rutgers. The Goophs could be on course to win the Western Division.

  • Ohio State - Not sure what to make of this game. I believe that UW is a better team than they show'ed Sat.
  • Michigan - Finally played a team with a pulse. Maryland moved the ball on the ground better than I thought they could.
  • Minnesota - Impressive win at MSU. MSU was never in this game.
  • Penn State - To close of a call with a directional Mich school. And as Medina says, their good wins are not looking that impressive now.
  • Maryland - Keeping them above Wisconsin for the moment. They moved the ball well against the Wolverines and their D played pretty well most of the game, but gave up a couple of big plays.
  • Wisconsin - They need to not even watch the game film and move on. Put that game in the rear view mirror and play out the rest of the season.
  • Iowa - Hopefully, this will kick start their offense. The Defense is special.
  • Illinois - Did what they had to do against Chatt.
  • Rutgers - Not sure what to make of them so far. However, I believe they should beat the teams listed below them.
  • Purdue - Did they play with the back up QB? Letting FL Atlantic hang around that long does not give me confidence that they deserve a higher ranking.
  • Michigan State - They looked terrible.
  • Indiana -  They looked even worse.
  • Nebraska - Moving up after a bye week.
  • Northwestern - It looks like they already quit.
