8. Nebraska: Brendan Jaimes, Trent Hixson, Cameron Jurgens, Boe Wilson, Matt Farniok

At the very least, this position should be fairly stable for the Cornhuskers.  The guys above started every game last year, and they all return.  Experience and stability are too important factors in ranking offensive lines.  The problem is Nebraska's line was middling to poor last year, and returning players who aren't any good don't necessarily help the team.  We will see - there is talk of moving guys around a bit and trying some new lineups, which is a weird thing to say when you return your entire line including most of the two deep.

7. Illinois: Alex Palczewski, Kendrick Green, Doug Kramer, Blake Jeresaty, Vederian Lowe
I would swap 7 and 8.  Because I'm a homer?  perhaps

Huskers production was just much better last season than Illinois.  And this with a regression of QB play from Martinez.

Cameron Jurgens will probably see marked improvement at center.

Matt Farniok is more suited to play guard, this is why they are thinking about moving up a young tackle.  If true, this could improve play on the right side.

I will say Nebraska's line was much better by the end of the year.

I really only watched Illinois once. I agree with the assessment. I thought they were the best unit on a bad offense.

Cole Van Lanen is locked in at left tackle. Tyler Beach should be at RT, and Logan Bruss at RG. All have played a lot of football. There are more like them with experience to fill in the line, and there are a ton (literally) of 4-5* kids waiting to play.

The best 5 will be on the field. It's what Joe Rudolph does.

Biggest challenge will be to replace the Rimington award winner. There are currently 3 kids vying for the job - Kayden Lyles, Joe Tippman and Cormac Sampson.

5. Penn State: Rasheed Walker, Mike Miranda, Michael Menet, C.J. Thorpe, Will Fries

The rebuild job is officially over in Happy Valley, as years of patching together offensive lines has turned into returning a deep, experienced bunch.  They turned into a group that could consistently run the ball, and some of their advanced stats were great.  In particular, their stuffed rate was fifth in the nation.  The pass protection stats were not great, though part of that was breaking in a new quarterback.  The big issue with Penn State may be the change in offensive coordinators.  Having a ton of experience is great, though changing systems and blocking philosophies on the fly without spring football could have some rough consequences.  While PSU definitely upgraded there, it's still a change and we will have to see how their play reflects it.

This seems abnormally low for what will likely be the best offensive line in Franklin's tenure.  Honestly, however, I can't really argue with Minnesota or Iowa being ranked higher.

I think Rasheed Walker is the best of the bunch, FYI.

In Minnesota's case health will be key.  If they stay healthy this could be a very good OL
there are young talented players coming up behind these guys but very unproven at this time

Last season Faalele and Dunlap were a true soph (with 6-7 games experience and a RS freshmen) they did not play consistent at the beginning of the year against those teams everyone wants to bring up that Minnesota squeaked by.

had the line played like they did in the 2nd half,  early in the year those games would have been blow outs.

Add more weight room time and a good Fall camp the line should be good to go out of the gate

those who think the new OC will be a problem, dont.  Without KC during the bowl game the offense continued to roll.  With the added ability to throw to TE's this season will add a new wrinkle.  another option to have to protect against.

I would love to see Minnesota do well this year.  PJ Fleck reminds me of a young Joe Paterno.  It's really hard not to root for a guy like that.

At the end, yes.  But... he almost left a few times.  I believe he was even offered part ownership of the Patriots at one point.

That top two isn't surprising. I've not researched into UWs, though they have some pieces to replace. Granted, we assume that usually just happens, and they've been stockpiling blue chippers, which makes me think some underfed walk-on will show up and club people.

The fact Bostad coaches ILBs now is still weird, but they've been good, so whatever.
