The MSU OL and pass defense have looked the same in this half as the first. The Lewerke pick-6 has been the most decisive moment of the game (in terms of "Is it a blowout or close?"). Losing Panashiuk is terrifying if (1) that's the Panashiuk I think it is (MSU has so many football families that I never actually know) and (2) the injury is serious.

Assuming the OL (especially the tackles) put it together as the season goes along, the biggest takeaway from tonight for me is that MSU really can't afford for Josiah Scott's injury to recur once he gets back. The laxity of the defensive backfield was the biggest surprise of the game.

Surviving the Blue Aggie scare bodes well for a Dantonio team historically, as some of their best seasons have started out with a game like this.

I don't think it would have mattered.  Teams that spread MSU to pass have continually given MSU defense fits.  Particularly when they go fast.  That style has consistently been our nemises.  The OL and the failure to finish drives concern me far more.  It's also notable how many times they got burned trying to substitute.  Tressell seemed quite overwhelmed in his first try as the solo coordinator.

Also saw that in the last 8 years, Utah State has one possession road losses at Oklahoma, Auburn, USC, Wisconsin and now MSU.  Maybe let's not schedule them again, k?

Okay, I noticed that yesterday on ESPN.com and assumed there was an error.  Did Colorado State play games on consecutive days????  vs Hawaii, then CU?  What the hell???
