we could, but some may not make the best decision and become a statistic 
like those that stand in line to get in and have a fever, those folks are told to go home after taking their temp

Yeah it's a good question.  They had the Pickerington North vs. Pickerington Central game on ESPN2 on Sunday, but I forgot to watch it.  Would've been interesting to see how it was handled.  I heard them mentioning it on Friday on 97.1, but haven't had a chance to see it in action.

This is what an Ohio Official that I know said


We did an intra-squad scrimmage last night.  Some observations, maybe it will help your crew.

(I know there is a state specific board, but since few go there, and there are some other Ohio officials here, please bear with me.  Thank you.) 

1.  We wanted the forward point of the ball touching the bean bag and the center put the ball on or beyond the bean bag.  We let it go, which may have been a disservice.  We talked a bit about it afterwards.  In normal mechanics we spot the ball and every center at every level slides the ball forward as they tilt the ball.  Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot.  So what we saw was really not much different from what we normally see.  We decided that we need to do a better job communicating our expectations to the center.  If the center takes advantage the U or R will stop the clock and fix it, reset to 25 and we'll wind it.

2.  Our U thought it was easier to retrieve the bean bag and set it for the next play while working from the CJ position instead of the regular U IP behind the defense.

3.  The R should help the U by retrieving the BB on punts.

4.  The HL frequently had trouble seeing the blue bag and did not know where to set the box.  We have ordered a couple of orange bean bags and hopefully that solves the problem.  (I know a lot of crews spot the ball on a line every play but in Ohio that is not the correct mechanic.)

5.  The state is encouraging the U to work from CJ so our U experimented.  We have to more scrimmage this coming week.  Our U plans to work from the regular IP during 2-minute and goalline and CJ the rest of the time.  We will see how that works.

As a person who is 60, I want the right to make my own decisions about the risks I am willing to take.

If someone happens to be in line with a fever and I have chosen to risk he might be in the line near me so be it.

If that fever is for more cowbell, you might be in Starkville.

I certainly understand this and respect it.

Interesting stat would be number of folks that have died that have made that decision.

Absolutely. I chose to live deliberately. I assume the risk, I also assume the responsibility. If I contracted Covid I would not be a victim.

If I get Covid-19 and end up in the hospital and very sick, I would be the first to say, it is my own fault. Of course, I think, based on what I have read and the statistics I have seen, that the odds of me ending up in the hospital or dying from Covid to be very very small.

In general, you will not see me blame anyone or anything for things that happen to me.  Of course there are exceptions, the suicidal depression that I suffered from after Ohio State lost to Purdue was not my fault, it was completely Urban's fault for not having his team prepared.
