Michigan played a sloppy game on offense and special teams. It was not pretty. The penalties were atrocious as well. Think they'll fix the special teams gaffes and clean up the penalties- but I am seriously concerned about that offense. Yikes.
Michigan defense is rounding into form. Mike Sainistril should NOT be as good as he is at nickel- it's seriously impressive. His instincts, ball skills, and football IQ appear to be off the charts. Eyabi Okie is looking like an absolute steal in the transfer portal. He's been coming alive the past 3 weeks- and he just got to Michigan like a week before the season started- you can definitely see why he was an OMERG FIVE STARZ and the #3 player overall in his class when he signed with Bama. Mike Morris continues to impress and has really improved since last year and is looking like an NFL draft pick at edge. Jaylen Harrell had a really good game setting the edge vs the run and a couple nice pressures. Mazi Smith was a monster in the middle- he's playing himself into being an NFL draft pick every week. What continues to surprise is the play of some true freshman- Mason Graham at DE/DT, DE/EDGE Derrick Moore, and NT Kenneth Grant making plays. Moore kinda makes sense- he was a high 4*, top 50 overall player as a recruit and was the MVP of that HS All-Star Under Armour All-American game. Graham was a 4* but ranked in the mid 250s and Grant was only a 3*. This has been like 3 weeks in a row vs B1G opponents that their pass rush has just absolutely taken over games in the 2nd half. Still wish Chris Hinton had stuck around to give them more depth inside and my lord if Ojabo had stuck around their pass rush rotation would've been scary good. Kinda crazy that Braiden McGregor- a top 100 overall player as a HS recruit and once upon a time OMG FIVE STARZ before he had a nasty injury which causes him to miss his SR year of HS seems to have been passed over by Eyabi Okie who just got here a week before the season and by Derrick Moore- a true frosh. Was expecting a lot more from McGregor- even though he did get a sack to put the nail in the coffin on Indiana- he's been getting less and less snaps at edge Okie and Moore have been getting more and more.
