MSU just had one with Oregon too, those are the attainable ones.  As for "helmets."  I mean 2-4 of them are in the conference.  So if you mean Alabama, Texas, USC, yeah, those aren't happening.

He mentioned UW has one coming up with VT.  Those I think are the best any of us can hope for.  You have OSU-Oklahoma and Texas-USC.  But those are helmets against each other.  They largely aren't scheduling them otherwise anymore, period.
Oklahoma has some big OOC opponents scheduled for home-and-home series over the next decade-plus.

2018: UCLA
2019: @ UCLA
2020: Tennessee
2021: Nebraska
2022: @ Nebraska
2023: TBD. I hope for a neutral-site game vs. Notre Dame.  Maybe at JerrahWorld.
2024: @ Tennessee
2025: Michigan
2026: @ Michigan
2027: LSU
2028: @ LSU
2029: Nebraska
2030: @ Nebraska

So some helmet programs are still scheduling big opponents in home-and-home series.  In addition to the schools on that list, Ohio State, Texas, and USC schedule home-and-homes with big schools.  And Notre Dame does so as well.

Doesn't look to be any room on OU's schedule for Big Red any time soon. Bummer.

have the King grab that 2031 & 2032 slot before it's gone and before the King retires

maybe Barry don't care for the stinkin Sooners?

Barry's 3 seasons playing LB at UNL

1966 lost to the Sooners in Norman 9-10
1967 lost to the Sooners in Lincoln 14-21
1968 lost to the Sooners in Norman 0-47

Or maybe he just knows that they will be in the conference soon anyway, with Kansas or something.

He controls everything, like making sure the Oregon State job opened up so his coach would leave and he could get the one he really wanted. You know, stuff like that.

Do any big time programs schedule home and homes anymore?  Maybe a decade ago there was some of that fear of the no win scenario keeping teams away, but seems like those types of series have all but disappeared.  Arizona State and Miami are the only P5 programs MSU has home and homes with coming up off the top of my head.
Won't speak for anyone else, but Texas just finished a home-and-home with Notre Dame, is currently halfway through a home-and-home with USC, and has upcoming home-and-homes scheduled with Ohio State, Michigan, and LSU over the next decade.

The Horns have also recently played home-and-home series against BYU, UCLA and Cal-Berkeley, and are in the midst of a home-and-home with Maryland, all of which are P5(ish), so it's not just helmets that Texas is scheduling.  But, it's certainly NOT Wisconsin, that's for sure!  :)

I wish he would have had more control over Shawn Eichorst coming back to the Big Ten

Barry probably gave Doc Tom a heads up, but Doc Tom didn't get a say in that decision

those Big 12 programs ain't skeered
heck, the Huskers were probably still in the 12 when they scheduled Oregon, Miami, UCLA, Washington, & Tennessee

Nebraska and OU both have typically had some really great OOC schedules.  Always lots of fun seeing the helmets teake each other on, and way MORE fun when it's a home-and-home.  The one-offs aren't only lame because they're played in sterile lifeless NFL stadiums with zero home crowd pageantry, but they also eliminate the chance for revenge/paybacks.  It's often tougher to beat a team twice in two years, than it is just the once.  Generates more fan and national interest, too.

Besides the OU series planned, they have home and homes with Colorado and Tennessee coming up.  That Tenn series was supposed to be 10yrs ago, and they switched it for VT, which I think was supposed to be VT v UW.

UNL still has cache when it comes to OOC games.

I'm hoping their next coach can do some serious winning and keep the cache going

whipping the Sooners in 4 or 5 years would help

This is how I feel. Unfortunately some in the SEC (*cough* Alabama, Florida, LSU) will only agree to neutral site games. Lame. Not a fan of the neutral site game.
I give Georgia lotta credit for scheduling ND and going into Souh Bend. You'd never see Alabama do that.

Maybe the Georgia fans will go back to SEC country and spread the word about road trips to the homes of great opponents.

OU fans loved their trips to South Bend back in 2012, to Knoxville in 2014, and to Columbus in 2016.  And, of course, the return visits from the Irish, Vols, and Buckeyes.

I'd like to travel to Lincoln in 2022.  I've never been there, despite OU and Nebraska being conference-mates from 1921 to 2010.
