I was curious so I looked it up, the last time Iowa beat Ohio State and Michigan in the same season was 1962 and that is the ONLY year it happened.

  • 2011:  Beat Michigan 24-16 in Iowa City, didn't play Ohio State, finished 7-6
  • 2010:  Beat Michigan 38-28 in Ann Arbor, lost 20-17 to Ohio State in Iowa City, finished 8-5
  • 2009:  Beat Michigan 30-28 in Iowa City, lost 27-24 in OT to Ohio State in Columbus, finished 11-2
  • 2004:  Beat Ohio State 33-7 in Iowa City, lost 30-17 to Michigan in Ann Arbor, finished 10-2

  • 1985:  Beat Michigan 22-10 in Iowa City, lost 22-13 to Ohio State in Columbus, finished 10-2 - This is a famous game in Ohio State history because Iowa's win over Michigan came first (10/19) and Iowa was #1 and favored when they came to Columbus on November 2.  
  • 1984:  Beat Michigan 26-0 in Iowa City, lost 45-26 to Ohio State in Columbus, finished 8-4-1
  • 1983:  Beat Ohio State 20-14 in Iowa City, lost 16-13 to Michigan in Ann Arbor, finished 9-3
  • 1981:  Beat Michigan 9-7 in Ann Arbor, didn't play Ohio State, finished 8-4 - Iowa and Ohio State were the only two BigTen teams to not play each other in 1981 and they tied for the league title at 7-1.  Iowa went to the Rose Bowl based on the longest loser rule and got shutout by Washington 28-0.  
  • 1962:  Beat Ohio State and Michigan each by a score of 28-14 with both games in Iowa City, finished 4-5 and unranked.  Ohio State was decent at 6-3, Michigan was atrocious at 2-7.
