this is mostly great news. Wink Martindale was a horrible hire and fit from the word go. Ron Bellamy hasn't developed a single WR in his 10 years at Michigan.

I like the new staff- and especially Whittingham.  He will optimize the substantial talent on that Roster- especially Underwood.  I think they are a playoff caliber team in year 1.

M* seems to be killing it

Under new head coach Kyle Whittingham, Michigan football has been playing a game of you win some, and you lose some. And while there have been significant transfer portal entries in the past few days, Sunday has marked a series of wins for the Wolverines.

Michigan managed to secure the rights to former Texas wide receiver Jaime Ffrench and former Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi on Sunday, but they weren't done. Fresh off a visit to Ann Arbor, there were high hopes that JJ Buchanan, the former Utah tight end, would follow his coaching staff from the Big XII to the Big Ten, and it turns out that's the case.

On Sunday night, Buchanan made it official, committing to Michigan football.

MDot was right all along

https://www.clickondetroit.com/sports/2026/01/19/michigan-football-transfer-says-other-players-blackmailed-sherrone-moore-for-playing-time/

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A Michigan football transfer claims other players on the team blackmailed Sherrone Moore about his relationship with another staffer.

Anthony Simpson transferred to Michigan last offseason after two years at Arizona and two years at Massachusetts. He arrived in Ann Arbor with 68 career catches for 910 yards and three touchdowns.

But Simpson didn’t have much of a role on last year’s team. His only touch was a 10-yard carry in Michigan’s 63-3 blowout win over Central Michigan.

Simpson entered the transfer portal last week and had plenty to say about the situation on social media.

Simpson said he was the best slot receiver and fastest player on the team. He said team captains were advocating for him to play more.

“I was treated unfairly due to Sherrone Moore being blackmailed by players and staff members, which jeopardized my opportunity to get on the field,” Simpson posted on X. “I was denied fairness.”

Moore was fired as Michigan’s head coach in December when the university learned of an inappropriate romantic relationship between him and another staffer. There had been rumors about the relationship in the past, and there are conflicting accounts on how much everyone else in the building knew about what was going on.

Simpson is clearly implying that another slot receiver used knowledge about Moore’s forbidden relationship as leverage to get more playing time.

Michigan’s starting slot receiver, Semaj Morgan, appeared to respond to Simpson’s comments on his own social media, saying, “Y’all let people tell y’all anything and believe it.”
