A week in Husker history
The week of Oct. 2-8, looking back in five-year intervals

1901: Nebraska beats Doane, 29-0, in a 35-minute game.

1906: Gil McDonald’s drop-kick for a field goal from the 40 yard line late in the second half lifts the Cornhuskers to a 4-0 win over South Dakota. Both sides were hampered on offense by a new rule requiring 10 yards instead of 5 for a first down.

1911: Nebraska scores at will in a 117-0 drubbing of Kearney Normal.

1916: Nebraska, running a Pacific Coast-style offense under coach Doc Stewart, opens the season with a 53-0 thrashing of Drake.

1926: NU opens the season with a 21-0 win over Drake on a soggy field.

«1931: In a game attended by gangster Al Capone, Northwestern stuns Nebraska with three first-quarter touchdowns and coasts to a 19-7 win over the Cornhuskers.

1936: Lloyd Cardwell scores three touchdowns as the Cornhuskers open the season with a 34-0 romp over Iowa State. Sam Francis returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown after initially muffing the ball.

1941: The Huskers overcome a fumble-filled performance on offense for a 14-0 win at Iowa State.

1946: An early goal-line stand sets the tone as the Huskers limit Kansas State to 42 net yards of total offense in a 31-0 romp in Lincoln.

1951: The heavily favored Huskers escape with a 6-6 tie at Kansas State, but the Wildcats later forfeit the game because of an ineligible player, end Joe Norman.

1956: A late fumble recovery and George Harshman’s field goal with less than a minute left give Nebraska a 9-7 win over Iowa State

«1961: Sophomore Willie Ross rushes for 103 yards and three touchdowns as the Huskers shut out Kansas State, 24-0.

1966: Wayne Meylan’s punt block in the third quarter breaks open a tight contest as Nebraska pulls away from Wisconsin, 31-3.

1971: The Huskers pass for 239 yards and rush for 230 in a 42-6 win against Utah State.

1976: Despite dominating the game statistically, Nebraska must come from behind in the fourth quarter to defeat Miami in Lincoln, 17-9.

1981: On a rainy Saturday, the Blackshirts shut down Auburn’s wishbone attack and set up both Husker touchdowns with fumble recoveries inside Auburn’s 10 yard line as Nebraska defeats the Tigers, 17-3.

1986: Bryan Siebler’s interception in the final minute snuffs a South Carolina rally and secures a 27-24 road win for the Huskers.

1996: DeAngelo Evans rushes for 168 yards as the Huskers crush Kansas State, 39-3, behind a dominating performance by the defense. The Wildcats managed just 86 net yards on offense.

2001: The Husker roll to a 41-0 halftime lead and cruise to a 48-14 win over Iowa State and quarterback Seneca Wallace.

2006: Cody Glenn and Brandon Jackson each top 100 yards rushing in a 28-14 Nebraska win at Iowa State.

2011: The biggest comeback in program history lifts the Huskers to a 34-27 win over Ohio State.

yup, next 2 games are against real competition

I think the Huskers lose both.  Just hoping to give them a game and keep it close.
If they steal an upset, I'll be happy as hell.

Don't think the Husker trenches are big enuff or good enuff to hang with the big boys.

Nebraska has already sold seven used urinal troughs from Memorial Stadium

The University of Nebraska is putting its diehard football fans to the test: You’re not fully committed to showing off your Cornhusker fandom until you purchase a game-used urinal trough from Memorial Stadium.

Oh yes, Nebraska fans — or anyone in need of an extra place to relieve themselves after a beer or two — can purchase one of the many urinal troughs from around Memorial Stadium after the team’s home slate of games ends in late November for $3,000 each.

Stainless steel water fountain troughs from the stadium are also available, and they’re only $2,500.

With Nebraska’s home field in Lincoln to undergo its “Big Red Rebuild” by the 2028 season, the university is already selling pieces from the stadium as unique collectibles. That includes all the urinal troughs, as the school makes way for new ones.

“Nobody is going to walk into your garage, basement, shop, backyard, or Husker room and ask, ‘Where did you find a stadium urinal trough?’ They are going to ask: ‘Wait. Is that actually from Memorial Stadium?’” the BuyGBR sales page posits. It also notes that the 72- to 96-inch-long, 300-pound troughs are original to the 103-year-old stadium, but have been cleaned.
