At what point will Cleveland run out of black magic?

It's an annual thing.

Looked at some of the stats.  Bottom 5 in the AL in BA, OPS, runs scored, ERA, WHIP, walk rate.  Have the 5th worst run differential.

Yet sitting there 4 games over .500.

Minneapolis Millers phenom Willie Mays was in a movie theater in Sioux City, Iowa on this date in 1951 when he received a message to report back to the team hotel. The New York Giants were calling him up to the majors!

The Giants took out a full-page ad in the Minneapolis paper apologizing for taking Mays away 🤣

In 35 games with the Millers, Mays hit .477 with eight home runs, 30 RBI, and 38 runs scored. The Giants went to the World Series, and Mays won National League Rookie of the Year.

Another game last night. Padres fell down 6-0 in the first inning to the Marlins, before scoring in the next five consecutive innings to take the lead and hold on to win 8-6. Three untimely errors from the Marlins rookie second baseman Ronny Simon allowed Padres baserunners to advance and eventually score. He was pulled in the fifth inning. Packed stadium thanks to Hoodie giveaway night. Unless you're a bobblehead collector, the hoodie is the most anticipated annual giveaway.

Well back in the Day when they were perenial cellar dwellers we called it The JUNE SWOON. And like the Swallows to San Juan Capistrano or the Buzzards to Hinkley,Ohio you could count it.

One of the baseball podcast I listen to does a "Summer Score"  The argument is that baseball was never like football.  It wasn't supposed to be live and die game to game.  It was about having a fun summer.  So for every day teams get points, if they are currently in a playoff spot.  1 point from Memorial Day-July 3.  2 points from 4th of July-August.  3 points from August 1-Labor Day

I kind of like the concept for doing what it's supposed to do.  It's just saying who had a fun summer.  The Tigers had an amazing run last year.  The summer was bleh.  I found myself often watching other games.  It also seems like its from a prior era, when baseball became America's Pastime.  You had teams win 95 games and finish 15 games out of the pennant, so was that enjoyable.  But I do feel like that's the right lens to view baseball through

It's been a historic season for the Colorado Rockies, but not in a good way.

The Rockies lost 5-3 to the New York Mets on Sunday, dropping their eighth consecutive game to move to 9-50 on the season. That marks history, as Colorado is now the first team in the modern era to lose 50 games before winning 10.

I'd say overall, not until they change divisions.  The AL Central is mediocre central.  The Tigers have woken up, but still, there's plenty of room for CLE to make the postseason.
Both the AL and NL centrals have been kind of shit.  They've lacked peak teams, for sure, so CLE and STL/MIL have by-and-large just annually won it with like 90 wins each year.
Don't get me wrong, the AL West has been and is a dumpster fire without the Astros' peak, but still.  You can count on the centrals to be mediocre year after year.
