can't remember the last time I was this excited about a Lions season starting. Loved that they were able to get Carlton Davis who is still only 27 years old and draft Terrion Arnold in the 1st round and then Ennis Rakestraw in the 2nd round to address the most obvious glaring weakness they had last year on defense- which was their CB's.

This seems like a make or break year for Jameson Williams. He needs to really level up and really take off and unleash that speed this year- and if he does that- the Lions are going to be fun as hell to watch.

14 of 17 games indoors too.  Considering you have to play at Chicago and at Green Bay every year, thats about as good as it gets one youve paid Goff

At least the bills really don't kick in for another 2 seasons (so probable 2 year window) but the Lions fell into the trap that teams have of bidding against themselves for a QB.

You can win w/ Goff, he's a good QB surrounded by very good and doesn't look good when surrounded by not so good (hmm its almost like this is a team sport). However IDT there is a team out there saying hey, lets give 45M+ to Goff.

I thought more Geno like contracts for the middle of the pack QBs were going to be the norm as in a hey that's 60-100M take it or risk making a lot less as a backup somewhere. IMO a big reason why you can't win w/o an elite QB is that the decent get paid as much if not more than the best.

I always joke about how the WWL is obsessed with (1) the NFL and (2) rankings.  The fact that we are deep in the NBA/NHL playoffs, and this is the front page has never made it more hilariously clear

they should do a ranking of NFL QB's nail polish and lip gloss fashion accessory choices. Caleb would top that list by a mile.

And for all the NFL yammering and ‘analysis’ by the world of sports coverage, the games are mostly boring. This article I came across last week is a good breakdown of how the NFL’s often stale viewing product can manage to command such an outsized audience – Outkick:

“But why does the NFL continue to dominate the world of professional sports when the games are so…boring? Less than 6 percent of the average NFL broadcast in its analysis was spent on actual football plays. 94.5 percent of the broadcast was wasted time or advertising. And this is the most popular sport? The 107 total plays between the two plays amounted to just over 14 minutes of football action.”

“Starting in the mid-late 2000's, the NFL's takeover of the sports world accelerated, with the league cementing its dominance in the 2010's. Some other pursuits started picking up steam around that same time too, accelerating into the 2020's: sports betting and fantasy football. It's not just that, of course. The NFL also benefits from a much shorter season than MLB. Instead of 162 regular season games per team, they play just 17. And those games are heavily concentrated on one day, or one nationally televised game on specific nights…It's a lot easier to follow a sport when it requires your attention only on Sunday or after work on a Monday or Thursday. Especially when you have money on it, or are tracking fantasy players.”
