Lulz. That Heisman vote is Exhibit A on the sheeple voters being led by ESPN pulling strings all season long and nothing more.
I'm curious why you're using career stats instead of season stats. The Heisman isn't a career award.
It's okay, we all know that Tim Tebow wears Vince Young underoos. No shame in that.
Ehh, wasn't it? Sometimes? Didn't claim to be, but sometimes definitely was.
Anyway, I'm focusing on who a guy was, good and bad, in total. The better an individual season he had, the worse the rest of his career was, if we want to focus on good Heisman call/bad Heisman call.
Reggie Bush won in a landslide WHILE his teammate finished 3rd as well. Leinart's votes took away from Bush's, as relatively few that they were. You can claim it was all ESPN narrative, but why do they care if a USC RB wins it or a Texas QB does? Why Bush?
Name another guy with 8.7 ypc on 200+ carries. Ever. I'll hang up and listen.
Bush wasn't a good returner in 2005 with that extra RB volume, but he was elite the year before. Lazy Heisman voters probably lumped that in, as they're prone to do. Not saying it's right, but it's common.
