Georgia 42, PURDUE 10
Nothing to say here.  It was 28-3 at halftime, and 42-3 after three.  At least Purdue found a garbage time touchdown late.

Texas 31, San Diego State 24
The Aztecs dominated the first half, and took a 24-7 lead into the break.  Bijan Robinson had just about enough of that, leading the Longhorns back with 188 yards and 2 touchdowns in the second half, including the game winning 2 yard plunge with 8 seconds left.

Oklahoma 34, Louisville 16
We saw the growth of Caleb Williams, and we also saw him be a freshman that tried to do too much.  In the first quarter he threw an ill advised interception, and the Sooners were shut out in the quarter.  Then he got patient, took what the defense gave him, and was 28-36 for 283 yards in taking control of the game.  But up 34-16 with 8:17 left in the game, flushed from the pocket, rather than throwing the ball away, and kicking an easy field goal, he threw the ball across his body, it was picked off, and Marvin Mims just barely prevented a pick six by a shoestring.

Oregon State 23, Baylor 18
The Beavers won a ground game battle, where neither team threw for over 120 yards, but Baylor ran for 280 yards, and Oregon State, led by B.J. Baylor, who was the highest individual rusher in the game with 168 yards, ran for 229. Everett Hayes missed a PAT following Oregon State’s first drive, but made up for it with a 47 yarder with 3:18 left to force Baylor to score a touchdown to win, which the Bears couldn’t muster. Gerry Bohanon had over 100 yards rushing and passing for Baylor

with it being double elimination, will the final be:

a - best of 3 series
b - team from winners bracket only needs to win 1, losers bracket team needs to win twice (like college baseball in omaha)
c - 1 game take all

Thursday result
  • Baylor 27, Louisiana 17 (Louisiana eliminated)

With 7:32 to play, trailing 17-13, and facing 4th and 3 from the Cajun 29, Baylor elected to go for the first down, rather than kick a field goal to cut the deficit to 1.  They failed to convert, marking their third consecutive possession to enter Louisiana territory, but totaling zero points.  The Bear defense stood tall, forced a three and out, and the Baylor offense made the fourth time the charm, with Abram Smith breaking free for a 45 yard go ahead touchdown.  After forcing a turnover on downs, Gerry Bohannon had a 32 yard keeper run of his own with 1:17 left to seal it.
