Why is it suddenly "in" for teams to do this stupid Karate Kid crane kick after a TD?

If it's purely an Alabama thing, ok... But I just saw the South Carolina receiver do it after a TD. And I've seen other players from other teams do it.

I guess they want to be original, just like everyone else?

'cause Saban has the juggernaut #1 seed and a program that he's lead to like 1000 national titles actually believing they are underdogs. it's insane. the dude is a jedi.

A reminder below of how well so many of these after-thought bowls score in ratings, even beating the NBA. Just as many eyes on the New Mexico Bowl's matchup of Fresno State Vs UTEP - two teams likely over half the viewing audience had not watched all year - as NBA games with much more familiar faces and a whole lot of industry hype across commercials and talk radio. No wonder ESPN caretakes ownership of most of these bowls.

Also of note, the high ratings do not carry over to filling the stands with fans.

Truth is, I've had bowl games on the TV all week. I haven't exactly been "watching" them all, but I've been contributing to the ratings.

It's a weekday between Christmas and New Year's, right now being 10:48 AM... There's no other compelling content being broadcast than UNC/USCe right now. What am I going to watch, The Price Is Right

the ESPN runs NFL fantasy football shows that crush NBA games in the ratings. Let that sink in for a minute. Football is most definitely king in America.

In the United States, basketball is really not that popular when compared to football. No sport is except for maybe NASCAR. That's 'Merica for you. We like hard hitting violent sports, fast cars, half-naked chicks, cheap shitty beer, cheap shitty food, diabetic flavored carbonated sugar water, and prescription drugs. Oh and bombing people half way on the other side of the world. 'Merica.

Same.  A game is always on during bowl season even if I’m barely watching it.
