Nebraska has officially signed long-time running back commit Dedrick Mills out of Garden City (Kan.) Community College.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound JUCO transfer had been committed to the Huskers since early September, but did not initially sign with NU on the early signing day on December 19. Questions about whether Mills would be a part of Nebraska's signing class quickly arose. In the weeks that followed the early signing day, Mills told HuskerOnline.com that he was hopeful to sign with NU before January 15 and that he planned to be in Lincoln this summer. Any questions about that can now be laid to rest since he has inked his letter of intent with the Big Red.

The Georgia native originally signed with Georgia Tech out of high school in 2016 and went on to rush for over 700 yards and scored 12 touchdowns for the Yellowjackets en route to earning Freshman All-American honors.

...................

The Huskers now have signed 25 prospects since the early signing date including Oklahoma State defensive lineman graduate transfer Darrion Daniels.

2018’s CFB teams whose results most differed from recruiting rankings

The eight biggest underachievers, based strictly on four-year recruiting ranking and S&P+ finish
Why eight? Because that’s a natural cutoff based on the pure rankings differences for all the teams. Context follows below.

Florida State (4th in recruiting, 84th in S&P+, 5-7)
Louisville (32nd in recruiting, 111th in S&P+, 2-10)
UCLA (15th in recruiting, 92nd in S&P+, 3-9)
Tennessee (13th in recruiting, 88th in S&P+, 5-7)
North Carolina (27th in recruiting, 95th in S&P+, 2-9)
Oregon State (60th in recruiting, 124th in S&P+, 2-10)

(tie) Arkansas (31st in recruiting, 94th in S&P+, 2-10), and Rutgers (53rd in recruiting, 116th in S&P+, 1-11)

HONOLULU – Noa Pola-Gates announced his commitment to Nebraska on Saturday night at the Polynesian Bowl and became the latest Arizona-based player headed to Lincoln in the 2019 class.

The four-star defensive back from Gilbert (Ariz.) Williams Field took all five official visits during the recruiting process and picked the Cornhuskers over finalists Arizona State and USC, where his cousin, Isaiah Pola-Mao, is a sophomore safety.

Pola-Gates told 247Sports that the staff in Lincoln made him feel at home despite the fact that he’s leaving the West Coast for college. Pola-Gates actually signed with Nebraska during the first signing period, and he was officially announced by the Nebraska football program late on Saturday evening.

Nebraska landed two other Arizona-based prospects — four-star defensive end Ty Robinson and three-star defensive back Javin Wright — in the early signing period.

There is another player from the Grand Canyon State that the Cornhuskers are pushing for heading into national signing day next month — Chandler three-star defensive tackle Matthew Pola-Mao, who is the cousin of Pola-Gates.

The Saturday night commitment of Arizona defensive back Noa Pola-Gates moved Nebraska into the Top-20 of the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Pola-Gates pledged to the Huskers in the first half of the Polynesian Bowl in Hawaii, and the four-star’s commitment moved Nebraska up three spots from No. 22 in the industry-generated rankings to No. 20 in the rankings, just tenths of a point behind Stanford for No. 19 in the rankings.

The Arizona defensive back is the seventh four-star recruiting to commit to Nebraska’s 2019 recruiting class, and is the fourth-highest recruit in Nebraska’s class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Nebraska is firmly entrenched in the No. 4 spot in the Big Ten recruiting rankings behind Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State. Nebraska finished in the No. 4 spot in the Big Ten last year in Frost’s first recruiting class, and No. 23 overall the 247Sports Composite rankings that year.

For two reasons, Josh Wegener’s decision to walk on to the Nebraska football team carries more intrigue than most.

First, the Iowa Western standout was named the No. 1 junior-college center in the nation by JCGridiron.com. Additionally, the Huskers through the years have avoided Reiver players like the plague. (The only other one to land in Lincoln is reserve offensive lineman Brian Perez, who spent 2017 in Council Bluffs as a reserve tight end.)

The Iowa Western coaches believe Wegener, a 6-foot-2, 300-pound Algona, Iowa, native, is well-equipped to handle the scrutiny.

Wonder if Notre Dame or some other big boys are going to come sniffing around MSU WR commit Alante Brown.  He was a 2* kid with offers from Cincinnati, Minnesota and MAC schools when MSU offered over the summer, got bumped to 4* by 247 today.
He didn't sign due to academics, and now there are rumors MSU pulled his offer.
If true, that means MSU lost the two best offensive weapons commits in the class.
