Going into the series this week, took a look at the Indians numbers thus far.  To be honest, they are lucky to even by 4-5, their offense has been absolutely putrid.  Home runs have sort of kept it afloat, but they are hitting .195 as a team, .526 OPS.  Lonnie Chisenhall, at .235, is the only guy hitting above .214, and among qualified hitters, Francisco Lindor is tops with .194.

Hopefully they stay cool for a couple more days here.

Well, so far they've stayed cold.  But the Tigers have been even colder.  Indians are 8-53 for the series (.151) and have won both games, because the Tigers can't plate any runs.  Tigers have been held to 1 run or fewer in 5 of 10 games, including 3 in a row.  They've also allowed 2 or fewer runs in 7 of 10 games, but are only 3-4 in those games.
Indians' lineup tonight

1. SS Lindor (.159)
2. 2B Kipnis (.098)
3. 3B Ramirez (.132)
4. LF Brantley (.154)
5. DH Encarnacion (.158)
6. 1B Alonso (.167)
7. C Gomes (.167)
8. RF Naquin (.214)
9. CF Zimmer (.179)

If the Tigers cant score in the 9th, make it 6 times in 11 games.  Lower the damn mound!

It's either been 3 or 4 consecutive days where a pitcher has gone at least 6 innings of no-hit ball.  Yeesh.

Alex Gordon was hitting .174 when the Royals put him on the DL, .372 since he's come off.  He's been horrible offensively since 2015, so this is a pleasant surprise for KC.

No-hitter for LA prospect Walker Beuhler + relievers!!!!!  He's a stud.  Yes, it was against the AAA Padres.

idk, I guess.  My Dodgers' no-hitters knowledge:

the Dodgers get no-hit relatively often (in my lifetime)
Hideo Nomo still has the only no-hitter in Coors Field history
Koufax's 4 no-nos came in 4 consecutive seasons

Now that the Mets have a no-hitter, every no-hitter vs. the Padres is salt in the wound - SD is now the only franchise without one themselves.

My Tigers no hitter knowledge I think is limited to Verlander's 2.  IIRC, Jack Morris had the one before that.  My dad was at JVs home one against Milwaukee.

Obviously the most famous is the one that wasn't.  The bad call that cost Gallaraga a perfect game.  It would be so weird in a replay world to have gotten a perfect game on an overturn.

Tigers also had an odd one against them.  Final game of the season, at Miami.  Had already clinched a playoff spot, Marlins were awful.  Had one thrown against them by a bad pitcher against a AAA lineup.  In 2013 I think?

Tigers' broadcasters noted it, and they're right.  With the new rules, so many runners just give themselves up going to second.  Royals don't.  They'll still push it, within the rules.  They did get called out Friday for going outside the rules, but largely they are really good at not taking the guy out, but forcing the SS or 2B to at least take note of them.  I like it, particularly now, when the rule is still new enough that most guys still played under the old rules, and heat of the moment may forget the guy isn't going to take them out.
