Well, both Bentley and Ezechukwu received honorable mention in both coaches and media.
And don't forget Bailey. Was up there conference ranks in sacks (T-4th all positions, 2nd for LB), tackles (5th in conference in solo tackles all positions, 19th in total tackles including assisted), and TFL (T-18th all positions, T-10th for LB).
Purdue probably had their best LB corps I've ever seen since I started following the team in 1997. So yeah, I would have liked to see one of them get some recognition.
Seems like a bad year for the "this defense was good, why aren't they represented"
Per S&P, Purdue and IU had top-30 defenses. But they're 7th and 8th in the conference. In a more traditional measure, yards per play, MSU is sixth in the league and Purdue is ninth. (They're 22 and 39 nationally)

Clayton Thorson?

The hell?
Personally I'd go Lee, but I guess they are holding his September non-conference interception fest against him.  For the full season he was 3rd in yardage, 6th in Passer Rating; Thorson was 3rd and 10th?  But in Big Ten play only Lee was 2nd in yardage, 4th in in Efficiency.  Thorson was 5th and 9th.  Lewerke was 6th and 8th.  Hornibrook was 9th and 3rd.  Oddly, Lagow was 4th and 5th.

In terms of Total QBR...
1. Barrett
2. McSorley
3. Lewerke
4. Hornibrook
5. Thorson
6. Lee

To me, it's pretty clear it's Barrett #1 and McSorley #2.  Then depending on what you value, it's kind of easy to vote for or against either Lewerke, Hornibrook, Lee or Thorson.  My vote would have been Lee, but he wasn't even HM by either coaches or media?

Yeah, I was looking at the stats. Purdue was 4th in conference in scoring defense, but was pretty poorly represented in almost every other statistical category. So while I think the defense was a bright spot and a lot of the reason we got to 6-6, I don't think the defense was anywhere near as objectively good as our "eye test" as fans seemed to think. We managed to keep teams from scoring as many TDs as one might expect when they got into our end of the field or the red zone, but we let them drive into our end of the field / red zone a lot.
Still, I thought our LBs were the highlight of that defense. I was not entirely surprised that we didn't get any recognition for those LBs, but perhaps [like @grillrat ] was surprised that Gelen Robinson was recognized while the LBs weren't.

QUARTERBACK RATINGRAT
1. J.T. Barrett, OSU165.0
2. Alex Hornibrook, WIS155.9
3. Trace McSorley, PSU153.6
4. Nathan Stanley, IOWA135.4

Well, the list I gave I said was Total QBR, not Passer (it's not QB) Ratings.

The Passer Ratings I gave above that were from the Big Ten site.

Passer Ratings in Big Ten games, per the Big Ten site

1. Barrett
2. McSorley
3. Hornibrook
4. Lee
5. Lagow
6. Stanley
7. Sindelar
8. Lewerke
9. Thorson
10. Bortenschlager

Total QBR is from ESPN, and doesn't allow to limit to just conference games, but does account for more of a quarterback's total game.  11 QBs threw enough passes to qualify, including both IU QBs

1. Barrett
2. McSorley
3. Lewerke
4. Hornibrook
5. Thorson
6. Lee
7. Sindelar
8. Lagow
9. Stanley
10. Ramsey
11. Bortenschlager

Coaches’ all-conference TEs

1st, Fumagalli: 38 receptions, 471 receiving yards, four touchdowns
2nd, Gesicki: 51 receptions, 501 receiving yards, nine touchdowns
3rd, Fant: 28 receptions, 486 receiving yards, 10 touchdowns

How is Gesicki behind Fumagalli at all?  You could even make a case for Fant over him with similar yards and 2.5x as many TDs, but he probably gets knocked for fewer total receptions.  Gesicki has better numbers than Fumagalli across the board.

Opportunities?
PSU throws 34.8 times a game. Wisconsin 20.8. So PSU should have better numbers across the board.
Fum is a bigger part of UW's offense, his catch rate is a bit worse and he's more efficient. Thrown in the fact UW's third down passing offense is mostly "throw to 81" and UW has the second-best 3rd down offense in the county, you have the reason.

You did find a reason... although I doubt they looked that deep into it.  Just so happened to pan out.

Bosa wins DL of year over Mo Hurst. I think Hurst shoulda won that, but I'm a homer.

Can't find much room for gripe.  Bachie must have been a roller coaster, because he was on their weekly list a bunch, but the weeks he wasn't, must have been way down.

I don't recall noticing Richardson that much this year, but aside from that, not much wrong.

I think Bosa made more splash plays, but on a down to down basis, Hurst looked substantially better to me.  This reflects that.
